Anybody read any good books lately?

I read all the stories on the Tucker Max site, and some of them had me nearly in tears they were so funny.

i just finished reading the alchemist by paulo coelho and i've only read enders game sadly cause i couldn't find the others in my house lol and i've never read any vonnegut but my brother does and says it's very good and i read half of the first book of the song of ice and fire sweries if anyone has any thoughts on those i would like to hear them

Song of Ice and Fire series? I fucking LOVE those books. Yeah, that's my nerd side kicking in. I've read 'em all.

Which is the first in said series? I'm forever seeing GRRM books in the Library, but I don't get any out because I dislike starting series in the middle and not reading them in order.

Well...I haven't read any good books but I just gave up reading Polystom, a scifi book about some alternate universe where u can fly a biplane to the moon. I thought it sounded interesting but when I started reading, I found out the main character is a total idiot jerk and gave up on the book...

"A Game of Thrones" is the first book in that series by GRRM. You should really check it out.

In sincerity, last thing I read was The Vampire Armand by Anne Rice.

I've read up to that book, but they got entirely too homoerotic for me, honestly (not a dig at you or anything).

Interview with the Vampire was good, The Vampire Lestat was good as well. The Queen of the Damned was excellent, and then The Tale of the Body Thief was kinda bad. Memnoch The Devil was incredible, and then it went right back to meh with The Vampire Armand.

Armand I got about halfway through and couldn't take any more of it, I didn't think it would be a romance book.

I read Shop Girl by Steve Martin after watching the movie and loved it. So I started reading his other book The Pleasure of my Company which is great! Everyone should check it out.

I had not heard of World War Z but I read the Zombie Survival Guide and thought it to be very thoughtful and the stories were interesting. Recommended.

Just for kicks last night I tried to pick up Echo Park by Michael Connelly and within the first page I could tell it was going to be shit. By the 2nd, I was done taking a shit and couldn't give a shit.

Yeah, there's a lot of reasons to not like the one about Armand that much. I enjoyed it, but I felt it had much more potential.

And the fact Marius went down on Armand threw me way the fuck off.

I just finished Tom Clancy's Line of Control. Its about an American Covert ops team that gets stuck in Pakistan after an Islamic Leader starts a rebellion against the Indian Government. There only hope is to find a way out of Pakistan and to do so, they must rest thier fate on a double agent who could potential sell them out at any time. Its like all Tom Clancy novels, but if you like war books, then its def for you.


Oh, i just started reading The Next President by Joseph Flynn, and its not so bad thus far. Ill write a description when im through.

I'm on my second read-through of Deathly Hallows at the moment, which I think is a very good book. And I'm contemplating going for a run-through of the whole series from 1 to 7.

After that, I'm thinking of carrying on with Dante's A Divine Comedy. A very good poem, written in the early 1300s, about the author's trip through the 9 rings of Hell. It's inspired a lot of authors since, and has been the foundations for many a good book.

Actually, The Divine Comedy is divided up into three parts: Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso. The entire book itself is about Dante's venture through all three places. "The Inferno" is just the most well-known one (that you have mentioned, but thus neglected the other two).

Meh. I only managed to get through two pages of the introduction before I put it down to read HP5 and 6 in anticipation for HP7.

See, I've only read the first 16 Cantos in the book, but I knew that even! But then I do research on stuff because I'm nerdy like that.

All I knew was that Garth Nix somehow based his Key to the Kingdom series on it, and that ADC dealt with the rings of hell.

I learned about The Divine Comedy because of Final Fantasy, oddly enough. Doing research from there led me to learn about the book itself and all that. Final Fantasy 4 has the most references to The Divine Comedy.
