Governement provided Healthcare?
Reply

I suppose this might spark some activity.

Who here would be willing to suffer a Federal Tax increase to receive government provided Healthcare?

Vote, and I'd love to hear any reasoning behind your vote!

I feel as though the government could get cheaper premiums for sure.

I voted that I'm for it, but I do think there should be some sort of quality assurance or something. That's really the only bad thing about free healthcare is that said healthcare usually sucks.

Yeah, one of the usual drawbacks I hear is that there is usually a bit of a wait to see a doctor for non-emergencies.

I could see the government possibly hiring a 3rd party QA if they're honestly concerned about it, but I'd be one for having government provided healthcare for legal residents, since governments are founded in the interest of public safety, I don't see where public health seperates from the general welfare of its populace.

No thanks, government already messes too much up, and since MI state government was almost shut down, I don't think they need more responsibility.

I voted yes.

The government does a great job with Medicare, as personally working for a billing company for the hospital systems out here they have the best system of them all, i'm down for it as long as they don't change how things work. I'd like to see the government fund it, but not run it.

As long as it's managed correctly, then government provided healthcare is brilliant. Some of the best healthcare systems in the world are government provided.

The NHS ain't bad, but it needs much better management, and better funding. In fact, it needs a complete overhaul - it really is starting to show its age. 60th Anniversary next year.

Yea, I'm sure if your healthcare system had the same per capita spending as ours it'd be fucking amazing.

I haven't said anything yet because this is such a hugely debatable topic, and I really don't know enough to talk about it. I voted yes from a humanitarian standpoint, but from an economic one I realize it has adverse effects.

Please do, that's why this is in Opinion and Debate. I'd love to hear good reasons as to why this would be a bad idea and/or possible complications that may arise from this type of thing.

I don't think there's even been any real arguments over Presidential Candidates, I don't see where this could spark a worse reaction.

Well, it possibly can't cost our country more than 100 million dollars a day (cost of the war last I heard) so we should be okay.

The debates lately have been ridiculous.

The debates lately have been retarded. Nobody actually KNOWS anything about the bill, the debates have been like 99% people who hate Obama vs. people who worship Obama. Ask anyone against it WHY they're against it and they'll start spewing nonsense about socialism, communism, etc.

I mean, when MOST of the people against nationalized healthcare are on medicare, there's obviously a problem.

My EXACT point. I have been seeing it so much lately on the news and on youtube that it's been driving me nuts. The two sides are the problem, but usually it's the left responding to the right. It's just political nonsense. I just don't see why we all can't come to some sort of agreement on what we all want and what we all need.
