Hello [Zelaron Forums],

If you are having problems connecting to Battle.net or staying connected to Battle.net, please try our easy to follow steps one at a time and then attempt to connect to Battle.net, as each step has the potential of solving
Battle.net connection issues.

Step 1:
Check the Battle.net Status:
Check the Battle.net Status Forum -
("http://www.battle.net/forums/board.aspx?ForumName=battlenet-status") to see if there is any information about the realm you are trying to connect
to.

Step 2:
Make sure you are using the latest version:
Log onto Battle.net and the latest version should automatically install. If you are not able to get onto Battle.net, please download and install the latest patch from the Patch - ("http://www.blizzard.com/patches") page.

Step 3:
Reset the Battle.net server list:
Windows User Information:
Exit the game, delete the Battle.net server list, and try the game again
(click here for more information -
("http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=adt0633p")).

Macintosh User Information:
Exit the game, delete the preferences file, and try the game again (click
here for more information -
("http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=adt0633p")).

Step 4:
Information for AOL Users:
To connect to Battle.net via AOL, make sure you are running the latest
version of the AOL software.
To check the version you are using:

* Run AOL
* Click on Help from the menu
* Select About America Online

For information on downloading and installing the latest version of AOL:

* Connect to AOL
* Click on the Keyword button
* Type UPGRADE then click GO
* Select the latest AOL version available
* Follow the Online Instructions
* Make sure you are connecting to AOL with parental controls turned off. If you have continuing problems try logging onto AOL using the Main Account. You can also try connecting to AOL using a different local access number.

Step 5:
Dial-up Account Users:
Windows User Information:
There are many things that can affect the speed and reliability of your Internet connection.

* Wait 15 minutes to an hour and try connecting to Battle.net again. Many Internet connection issues are temporary and will clear up on their own.
* Your modem may need updated drivers to work more reliably. Check your modem manufacturers website for updated drivers, or contact them by phone.
* The dial up server you are using may be overcrowded or on an undesirable part of the internet backbone. Try different dial up numbers for your ISP if alternate numbers are available in your area.
* Your house phone lines may be in need of service. Brittle or sharply bent lines, even those in your walls, can cause loss of information.

Macintosh User Information:
There are many things that can affect the speed and reliability of your
Internet connection.

Internet connection issues are temporary and will clear up on their own.
* Your modem script may need changes to work with your modem more reliably.
Your ISP or Apple should be able to provide assistance with changes to your
modem script.
* You may need to update your version of Open Transport. The Open Transport
software updates are available on the Software Updates area of Apple's web
site - ("http://www.apple.com/").
* The dial up server you are using may be overcrowded or on an undesirable
part of the internet backbone. Try different dial up numbers for your ISP if
alternate numbers are available in your area.
* Your house phone lines may be in need of service. Brittle or sharply bent
lines, even those in your walls can cause loss of information.

Step 6:
Internet connection notes:
Windows User Information:

* Test your Internet connection:

* Use the Trace Route program to make sure your Internet connection is
running smoothly (click here for more information -
("http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=adt0631p")).

* Internet Connection Wizard:

* Windows 95/98/Me/2000:

* Click on the Start button, select Settings, and go to Control Panel.
* Open up Internet Options.
* Click on the Connections tab.
* Click on the Setup... button.
* Select the option I want to set up my Internet connection manually... and
then select the appropriate connection method (dial-up or LAN).
* Restart your computer and try connecting again.

* Windows XP:

* Click on the Start button and go to Control Panel.
* Open up Internet Options.
* Click on the Connections tab.
* Click on the Setup... button.
* Select the option I want to set up my Internet connection manually... and
select the appropriate connection method (dial-up or LAN).
* Restart your computer and try connecting again.

Macintosh User Information:

* Before connecting to Battle.net, make sure you are connected to your
Internet Service Provider.
* We strongly recommend using Open Transport for PPP (Point-to-Point
Protocol) accounts. A support rep from your Internet Service Provider (ISP)
should know if this is possible.
* When starting the game, make sure that Quit other applications is not
checked. This will close all other open programs, including your ISP
software.
* It is possible your computer is being restricted from accessing certain
ports that Battle.net needs access to. If you have a Firewall, Proxy, and/or
a Router setup please visit our Port Information for Firewalls, Proxies, and
Routers - ("http://www.blizzard.com/support/?id=msi0445p") page. It is also
possible your ISP is restricting you from accessing these same ports,
contact them to verify they are not restricting your access.
* Connecting to Battle.net over DSL connections which use PPPoE Older
versions of the Mac OS may not support PPPoE protocol used by most DSL
providers. If you are using a DSL connection to the internet we strongly
recommend you update to the most recent version of the Mac OS.
