Man vs. Wild

Anybody seen this show on the Discovery Channel? The whole premise is, they fly this guy out to the middle of nowhere, parachute him in and the only things he has to survive on are a knife, a bottle of water, and a flint. He has to make it back to civilization in 5 days or else he fails (he's never failed though, as far as I know).

It's a pretty nifty show. The guy is incredibly resourceful. He couldn't find any water so he squeezed liquid out of elephant shit once. The same episode he came upon a carcass of a dead zebra and then prepared to eat the raw meat right off of the zebra's hide. It was badass.

He's got a camera crew with him but they can't aide him. It's really interesting and it may teach you a couple vital things should you ever get stranded. Check it out.

It is indeed an awesome show.

I remember in one I watched, he had a fish that he had just grabbed, it was alive, and he bit right into the fucker like some rabid bear or something.

He's kinda crazy sometimes, some of the things he does I think are more for shock value than actual "useful-to-know" stuff, but it's still very entertaining and you do learn some cool stuff.

Yeah same I have to agree this show is totally awesome lmao, I actually was watching it a bit earlier before work lmao..

I remember a show where he told somewhat about his life before... well, now. He was in the british military or something a covert ops specialist or some weird shit like that and now he's doing this show..

It's definately much more fun to watch than some boring lame arse show like Survivor.

Survivorman isn't all that bad, and I think his stuff might be slightly more useful to the average person(I mean, how many people can do a 15 foot jump and do a roll to absorb the fall? Even if someone knows they can do that, can they actually perform the act?)

Man Vs Wild is way more entertaining though.

Oh no i'm not even reffering to survivorman, but SURVIVOR on CBS, lmao. Totally different, but yeah MVW is much better than the rest of them... Discovery has really came out with some good programming the past few years, Thumbs up to you guys.

I've actually seen Bear Grylls (the guy on Man vs. Wild) do the same thing you just mentioned.

You're right though KA some of the things he does aren't entirely necessary. Like.. jumping in quicksand on purpose, for one. But, he showed you how to escape it.

I like the random stories he tells in every episode. They all mainly sound like this, "Around 2 years ago, an old person/couple got stranded in a mountain not very far from here. They ended up dying of hypothermia/heat exhaustion/shredded by bears." Hah, it's so great.

I think his stories sometimes over-dramatize what's going on. I mean, we know he's in a dangerous environment, he doesn't have to keep telling those quick little stories to prove it.

And yeah, that's what I was referring to, when he did the roll thing. I mean, it was cool when he did it, but if I tried to do that I'd probably land on my head. I'd be better off sitting there waiting for someone to find me than attempting to jump 15+feet, because most likely I'd end up doing the same thing (waiting for someone to find me) but I'd be in horrible pain on top of that.

Yeah even jumping off of a 7-10ft roof sucks, and you usually have a nice soft comfy landing (front/back lawn of grass) to land on.

I'd like to see my friend James go on a show like that. He eats tons of squirrels and shit =P. On the spawn episode the dude used shoelaces to get up a tree. I've seen James climb trees that were 2-3 feet in diameter up to 30+ feet. Haha, there were some trees in the parking lot of King's Island and he climbed one of them.

If I could edit your posts I would because that isn't an intelligent response and doesn't belong in this area.

For shame.

Yeah that wasn't intended for this area, we're having a serious discussion, if you don't like it take it to the flame forum !K_A!

I love this show and I think it is better than Survivorman because having a camera crew allows Bear to do crazier stuff. The only problem I have with it is more the way Discovery re-runs the same damn episodes over and over. Every time I turn the TV on the Moab episode is airing.

There's another one, calling someone a dumbass is a personal insult, and is deemed inappropirate for the areas that aren't the Flame Forum. <3
