Bet your kids will feel really loved if they ever hear that. You pretty much just said you didn't even want the kid you've got right now.
lol

I've been told that I wasn't supposed to happen, didn't make me blink. It all depends on the kid's point of view, I suppose.

Well it's somewhat different to have been unexpected than to have been unwanted.

It's like instead of your parents saying you weren't planned, they say they didn't want you and wish you hadn't been born in the first place.

Well, they didn't NEED to say that.

I'll rephrase it then. I was informed that I wasn't planned and later found out that I and my sister were the glue holding a loveless marriage together for many years.

My father wasn't exactly the ol' warm figure of paternal leadership, either. You'll probably get the same conclusion I did.

It's not quite saying, "We didn't want you", but it's damn close. Perhaps I'm not articulating well, haven't slept much lately.

wow sorry.
looking at it from a different point of view...they CHOSE to stay together, that has NOTHING to do with you. They CHOSE to have you and decided that they wanted to be toghether to raise you and your (sister?). And at the time I'm sure they were thrilled to have a baby, and a child, but when you started getting older and being more dependent and they had more time to each other, they decided they didn't really like each other...and possibly hadn't for a while. That would be my guess, and they needed a way to vent it, and explain why they had "wasted" so much time with each other, really doesn't have anything to do with the kids, but sure sounds easy to work it out "for the kids". If there's not love, there's no love. How was their relationship towards each other when you were growing up?

And I wasn't ready, nor "wanted" kids...and now I've adjusted to the lifestyle and LOVE it. I wouldn't want to go back to not having her.

That's pretty much what I mean. Even if your kid is unexpected, you should love it no matter what, not treat it like a burden which is what Kaneda seems to act like when he's posted here before. I could be completely wrong, and I absolutely hope I am. I don't see how he could feel anything but love toward his daughter.

Um, actually, Dad told me that he just didn't believe in having a kid grow up without knowing his father. I know he chafed against the lifestyle that I imposed on him for years by being born. Mom and Dad hadn't really cared much for each other since my sister was born (I recall Mom crying when she found out she was pregnant again, and I was 5).

Honestly, I can't recall much in the house between them aside from cool detachment and the rare loud argument. They finally got divorced a few years ago, after I'd graduated. Kinda makes me feel bad that they felt obligated to stay together for my sister and I's sake, I'd have understood. /shrug

Like I said, it doesn't really bother me much, although Abby seems to think I had some horrible childhood. Perhaps it looks different from the other side of the looking glass.

Heres the shtick. I never wanted kids and didn't all the way up until I had one. Now perhaps if I hadn't had this one now, whos to say I wouldn't want one when I am 30. Who knows. However now that I am a father and I'm playing an active role in my daughters life, I love her more than anything in the world and would do ANYTHING for her.
And my father also told me that I wasn't planned. I'd say MOST of children arn't. It didn't effect me, granted I was like 12 or so. He also told me my mother had a would be sister aborted. Yikes! lol

I'm surprised you turned out mostly level-headed with the stories you tell of your upbringing.
