The new bar is ok, i guess. But everyone posting here has 4-6 of the bars full, most of them being 6 bars. I think you might want to change it so it's more difficult to get all 6 bars.

Because I hadn't finished doing the more complicated work to add them to Synthesis yet?

First of all, a lot of the active users/spammers are very active, so there are a bunch of people with bars at max. I may increase the posts per day to change this...

Second, there are 10 arrows to get, however I just started logging visit activity, so only people who visited for the first time today in the past half hour have any points for visiting; all the current points are from posts.

Third, we will almost certainly make it look better if we get rid of post counts for it.

Edit:
BTW, you can get an exact % by hovering over the bar

If we get rid of post count, I'd still like to be able to view it in my profile. Otherwise, I'm all for the change to these "bars."

Heh, honestly, I think this might be having the oppostie effect as previously wanted. I know for me at least, I'm all gun hoe about trying to get the max bars ASAP for some reason, not quite sure why though....

This could, initially at least, cause much more spam...

Actually, instead of being per day, right now it's cut off at 28 for the week and 112 for the month, so if you're behind on post count, you can catch up right now, but if you're already at the 76 or so percent max, the bar won't go any higher untill tomorrow. The cutoffs thing is due to processing time considerations, but I think I have a good way arround the problem that I may implement soon, so spamming to get it to go up faster is probably a waste.

Titus, if it encourages people to post 4 times a day, there's nothing wrong with that. For the people who's bars are already at max, it certainly doesn't encourage them to post 100 posts a day.

Ah... So you kind of have to let the system run for a little while before it reflects true activity?

Well you see, the vists component is missing. About 28% of the possible points are from visiting each day, but the data on whether or not a user has visited just started to be collected for today. In 28 days, you should see full bars, though they should raise to 85% with a week.

After a month, we will have all of the data taken into account and can tweak the equations if neccessary.

WW, if you have a max count of 4 per day, but someone didn't post for two days, this could cause them to just spam the hell out of the forum one day, get the 28 max for the week, then simply just visit once a day and not do a damn thing and they still get max activity.

Something should be done so that is prevented.

As I said, I am fixing this up to work the way I originally said it would. This is just an interum step.

Edit:
Okay, it should be all set. Almost everyone will have noticed a drop in the bar because apparently even the hardcore spammers don't spam everyday and today's visit doesn't count anymore.

Now the stats for today don't count. So the stats used for the week are the stats for the 7 days before the current one, and the stats for the month are the 28 days before the current one. Also, it should be noted that the server is in the central time zone; this affects its count of whether or not you visited during a day and whether you have 4 posts one day and 4 the next or 2 one day and 6 the next.

I like it a lot so far. Maybe I can make the bar look really nice for the new style...
