Physically easier, yes.

But you've got to have the brains to get atleast 36 points on the ASVAB.

And if you haven't graduated high school, they most likely won't take you. If you have you're GED, you have to score atleast a 65.
36 points? You mean percent? I got 99.

Anyways I was offered good deals but I hate this country right now so if they want my services they pay what I ask.

I do research and development anyways I don't like killing other people unless they are stupid and piss me off so the military probably wasn't for me anyways.

thing is with the war right now i dont wanna join the military and end up going. i dont love this country that much... i looked into the airforce but their starting pay is like 8 bucks an hour.
In your situation, I can't think of anything better you could do. They will pay for your housing, your food, your schooling, and all that shit, plus they'll pay you for doing it.

One of the great benefits of joining up right now I would think is that later on in life, you'll be able to have the VA hospital available to you. My father served during the "Vietnam War Era" so he's technically considered a veteran, even though he never did any combat and there wasn't really a war going on when he was in the Air Force. Not only that, but he had a "less than honorable" discharge.

He was diagnosed with lung cancer a few months ago, and he never had to pay a cent for his treatment. He stayed at the hospital for a couple of months or so, had all sorts of expensive treatments done and such, and it was all completely free to him. He can go to the doctor there any time he wants, even if he just has a sniffle and wants to get it checked out. All of his medicine is free as well.

At the time, he was homeless, and most likely he wouldn't be alive right now if it weren't for him being able to go to the VA hospital. He's 54 years old, he is an alcoholic, and he was homeless. Once the cancer hit him, he was disabled. I don't think he would have had much luck without the VA hospital.

But yeah, if you're in a bad situation, it isn't really a horrible idea to join the army. Free food and a place to live along with a paycheck and schooling means you get a nice helping hand getting to a good point in your life.

No, I said points.

usmilitary.about.com said:
ASVAB Score - Air Force recruits must score at least 36 points the 99-point ASVAB (Note: The "Overall" ASVAB Score is known as the "AFQT Score," or "Armed Forces Qualification Test Score"). Exceptions are made, however, for a handful of high school graduates who can score as low as 21. But these "category four- A" recruits (by regulation) cannot exceed more than one percent of all recruits per year. (Note: A "Category IVA recruit is a recruit who scores between 16 and 30 on the AFQT). In actuality, the number of Cat IVA recruits the Air Force generally accepts each year is about 0.1 percent of the Air Force's annual accessions.

:EDIT: I scored a 97 when I took it for a Marine's Recruiter who was at my High School.

Sorry to here about what has happened to your father, but that line im quoting means alot actually. Im young and honestly have 0 life skills, 0 skills a young adult should have. I believe this would be an awesome idea, problem is convincing my girlfriend of this.

Does anyone have more information about this? as in personal experience or, stories from someone close that wont bluff them in anyway? I would like to bring my girlfriend with me but i dont know how that process works. Living on base and all. I live in arizona and if it were possible to get stationed on LAFB (Luke Airforce Base) then it would be awesome!! She could come see me anytime and its like a 20min drive. How long is boot? what kind of activities go on durring the day? Where / what do you stay in durring bootcamp? is it only pushups and squats all day? When does schooling take place? i suppose the ideal person to talk to would be a recruiter but, the second you show any interest in the military youve made a new bestfriend that just wants to play 20 questions till you sign. any information i can get before i go see a guy would be great.

Not trying to be a buzzkill here, but if both you and your girlfriend are young and inexperienced at life then the chances of you two lasting are pretty small. I'd focus on getting your life on track and not catering to her so much.

You have to run/march many miles and do lots of physical training. But that's not bad. She'd get to travel to your base if you were married, but I don't know about girlfriends. If you're married I believe you get a housing allowance and get to live with her. Depending on what service you join you'll be based in different areas. Marines=hawaii a lot of times, haha. So if you like hawaii there you go. Air force, yea ...you might be able to get that air force base. So in conclusion, if you want to stay with her (and can stomach it) marrying her is about the only way you'll get the housing paid for .

Just make sure you don't do it solely for the housing deal. You could end up regretting it.

You could take the cheesy astrive student loans crap......
And pay for college with that, while you work part time at a store or w/e.

Choose a job that'll pay decently for little time, for example.

Computer techinitian, Webconnections.
These barely take time since usually people with computer problems, are just too stupid to go to yahoo answers, they dont' know a right click from a left click. And right now, the internet is something BIG, anyone who's anybody, needs the internet for something, so webconnections will get you a decent pay aswell.

But you can take w/e you want, my suggestion is get a small loan. Not recommendable, but if you're willing to dedicate your time to it and work constantly.
I'm sure you can get by.

Do note, that this will include 2 hours of class, and then you have to go straight to work, so even with PRO time management ( like yours truly ) you'll be at your home at aprox 4pm-6pm.

So yeah, for the time till you finish classes, you'll be working quite a tad >_>

i actually ended up going to the recruiter on monday, got alot of information and scored a 72 on the practice asvab he had me take, which qualifies me for any job in the military granted that i can cut it. Im not very computer savvy, dont you need some sort of certifacation like a A+ in order to be a consult for that kinda thing? In any case, im tired of working jobs, its time i started to invest some time into a career.

what the hell is that supposed to mean? you're not perfect either, you know

by the way, you're only 19, you need school in order to 'invest' into a career, so yeah, you need a normal job
