Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any experience with Flash ActionScript? While real-time combat itself can be neat, there's recent server software for Flash which allows real-time multiplayer applications as well. In short, players may be able to party up versus monsters and do real-time co-op battles. Maybe clan fights as well, e.g. 4 vs 4 players.
The server software itself is free with a user cap of 20 users. A 100 user cap costs 500 euro, an an allowance for unlimited users costs 2000 euro. I don't think there's really any point in making an investment unless we can get our hands on some programmers who can work on the game. Again, I could probably make it on my own with a huge time investment, but art school takes a lot of time away from me, so I'd rather design the environments and such, as there are likely much better programmers around.
If you have any experience with C++ and/or PHP, you already know a majority of the Flash ActionScript language, you just have to get used to it.
