What's not to hate about Word? It crashes alot, it bloats documents (a simple 20k HTML file becomes 80k), none of it's document views or previews is really WYSIWYG, so I get to try to read black on black, it makes it hard to do simple things (like a simple sieries of bulleted lines, or adjusting text offsets), when you get into any construct that is remotely complicated you often hit backspace once too many and oops--the document gets into a strange unfixable state--undo or redo from scratch, it makes itself the default program for editing HTML but doesn't understand it, you can't see the beginnings and ends of format modifiers and/or it doesn't place them where you tell it to at line breaks, etc.
I used to use Word Perfect, until it turned into a Word clone. I'm not anti-Microsoft; the rest of the Office suite is wonderful and I'm very pro-IE, but MS Word is the worst program for writing documents ever.
