So.. Advent Children?

Well a friend of ours gave us a PS2 the other day and FF7 Cerebus' Bite. I noticed that it said this was the finalization to the story and Advent Children was the middle game. So, should I get this one and play it. How much will I be missing out? Is it a good game? I kinda don't like the real time fighting style of this one Cerebus Bite. It's not classic Final Fantasy, what's up with that.
