I think what it is, is the Urnabized kids that have access to BET/MTV etc etc, act that way because they think it's cool, and so do other AA's.

Pretty much. It's essentially done for acceptance, and continues as they've essentially brainwashed themselves into thinking it's cool, perpetuating the cycle.

It'll only change with a fair amount of effort.
