Did everyone stop playing?
Reply
Posted 2006-01-11, 10:01 AM
I know I have a knack for getting people from this website to play the games I am really into. And I feel I did for a time with Guild Wars. But since I have deployed, I see there is little to no activity in this section. I think I should be getting wireless internet before Chapter 2 comes out, and will deffintally being playing GW.

So who here still plays GW atleast once a week?

Erm...I play about once a month or so. It depends who's on.

I kinda stopped after Ascending. I'm up to the second Ring of Fire mission I think...I still pop on occasionally. To see things like the Halloween and Christmas Celebrations.

Btw, are you still in your Guild? If not, we really ought to start up a Zelaron Guild or something. They've got some WoW ones haven't they? Why not have a Zelaron one?

I just started playing again on Friday. I'm so far from endgame, it's not even funny.

Keep in slogging at it and you'll get there in no time.

Hmmm...I might start a new character. Or finish with Raph...or I might just wait for Factions and then let it dominate my misused time once again.

I'm guessing "PK them" is either kick seven bells out of them or make them join your party?

That's what the outposts are for really. To get people to join your party. And if you want to kick seven bells out of them, then just have a bash in the PvP arenas.

I'm gonna start a new character today. I thought maybe N/R, but we'll see. I'm doing it with a friend - we're gonna both become the same build, and bash our way through the missions, see how far we can get in a day.

PK - player kill
And it's not the same in the arenas.

It was about the surprise, the chase, the suspension. In an arena, everyone is there to fight. In UO, you could be looking for sheep to shear, lumberjacking, or taming deer, and a malicious murderer would show and attack you. *RUN!!!* Or you could be that malicious murderer. UO was teh pwn... :*(

I see. Can you do it in WoW too, or is it just an UO feature?

It does sound like fun. But then again, some people would abuse it. So if whoever makes GW (NCSoft I think) was to put it in, maybe they should make it a mode. So you've got normal PvE, PvEvP (people can come up and kill you in the wilds) and then PvP. The problem is there would be gangs of people hanging out around the respawn spots, waiting for people.

Once you've killed said prey, can you rob them as well?

You can do it in WoW to a point, but it's not nearly as exciting.

Many, many people abuse it. Sometimes it's annoying. Sometimes it's amazingly fun. And having it as a mode completely ruins it.

That's basically what Origin did with UO. They created 2 facets (Felucca and Trammell). In Felucca, life was as always; you had to beware anything that moved. In Trammell, nobody could do anything bad to anybody else -- no attacking, no stealing from, etc, etc. Guess what? Everybody went to Trammell. Those that stayed in Felucca found it to be sparse and lacking in activity. Even providing the option makes the point of having it moot.

And you don't get people camping 'spawn points.' In UO, you can rez in town at a healer, at a wandering healer in the wild, at an ankh placed at a shrine or place of importance, or from anybody with enough magery or healing skill to do it. Sometimes, you get rez-killed, which is terribly annoying, but the solution is to either wait until the offender leaves or simply go somewhere else.

And, yes. You can totally jack their stuff.

If they built such a feature into GW then you probably would get loads of people in the 'safe zone'. And you'd have the Koreans camped out in the 'un-safe zone' just because they're better than us all.

I don't know if you've played GW, but once all your party is dead you respawn at a set Spawn point next to the portal between different areas. If you can loot, then you'd get people camped there looking for an easy kill.

Maybe (another maybe, always with the maybe's), if you wanted to make sure activity was equal in both 'worlds', you'd make it compulsory for those over a certain level to be in the free-for-all zone. Maybe lvl16 or 17 up.

I stopped playing this game a big while back. I kind of got tired from farming the pvp just so you can get in some decent parties. I saw chapter II (is that what it's called?) But I have no desire to play anymore.
