There are cold soups. Just because YOU base it on the "hot and cold scale" doesn't mean you are right.

I guess cereal might be considered a chowder, but not really. Cereal isn't really a "thick soup".

I think what it all means, is that "soup" is a catagory, in which the specific "stew" lies. they are not equal in the pyramid of definition for example a rectangle is a category and the square is in that category, hence a square is a rectangle, but a rectangle isn't a square. confused yet? good. here's something else to chew on: a rectangle is to a square as a soup is to a stew. still don't understand? perhaps I can help: a stew is a type of soup. ok?
