My aim is messed up

Whenever I log on (to any screenname) aim suddenly closes, with no warnings or messages or anything.

I tried rebooting, it didn't do anything.

Get Trillian if it simply won't work.
Takes a little while to get used to, but it's more functional than AIM for various reasons.

its an instant message program that goes across several platforms (AIM, ICQ, MSN, YHOO i believe).
