First, KA, I'm not entirely sure why you've brought this up in the first place. You barely participate in these battles anyway.
Second, I still disagree with you. X's access to all of his abilities gives him no more of an advantage than if he had only one set of abilities. He still has plenty of weaknesses, it's just that no one has bothered to try and figure them out.
Third, if we restrict character abilities, that severely limits how far a discussion can go. If everyone knows absolutely everything that a character can do, right from the get-go, all the match boils down to is a comparison of power.
"In Column A we have Mario from Mario Bros. 3. He can use fireballs, the Tanooki, Hammer Bros. and Frog suits, he can jump and he can fly. In Column B, we have Link from A Link to the past. He can use the Master Sword, Mirror Shield, Cane of Byrna, Ether, Bombos, Quake, Hookshot, Magic Cape, and a whole bunch of other shit. Well, by comparing their abilities, Link wins. Mario can't punch, kick or really evade Link's attacks because he couldn't do that stuff in Mario Bros. 3."
These battles determine which characters would win in a battle, not who has the stronger abilities. If you limit the character's abilities like that, all you're doing is a side by side comparison. If we do that, then why the hell don't we just revert to the vote system we used originally?
