Religion... Some Ideas

I noticed that sooo many people say things like, " I am (blank), but i dont believe in certain aspects of (blank)." While I understand your predicament (I am also that way), I don't think that makes much sense at all. In fact, I think it is quite asinine to say that.

When you don't believe in parts of a religion, and don't regard those aspects, it is no longer the same religion, no matter how similar your beliefs are to (blank), in my case Roman Catholocism. I am not a regular church goer, and don't even believe that the pope is infallible. So I am clearly NOT Roman Catholic, although I would like to think that. Any thoughts?

I don't think that just because you don't practice or something along those lines, you aren't considered in that religion anymore. Ask any Catholic that talks to a priest about having those feelings, and he will just about 100% always say that you are still considered to be a Catholic. Then he'll probably give you some shpleel on why you think that way, and why the church is important, and then he'll over-analyze the situation to try and convince you to become a more active member.

Just my opinion though, and only for that specific (blank). I don't feel that our opinions mentioned before are asinine whatsoever, but that is your opinion, which you are entitled to.

How would you define "a part of that religion" though? This is sort of a stumbling block for me. When I said I am clearly not a Roman Catholic, I came off wrong. I meant that I clearly don't believe in all the stuff that is Roman Catholic.

In anycase, my point is, everyone's "religion" is different. My opinion is religion is just your beliefs on that of subnatural quality (I hope i successfully busted those words out of my ass, they might not make sense )
