Ninja by far. Stealth is a great weapon if you can utilize it, and martial arts speaks for itself.

Ninja Pirates!

Really depends on the ammount of enemies, Pirates were usually involved in group battles, but ninjas worked alone for the most part.

In a 1-on-1, a ninja would win hands down, but in a battle between groups, the pirates might be able to win.

Realistically, pirates.

Pirates would just take their gun and shoot the ninjas. If the ninja was stealthy though the pirates wouldn't see it coming.

Dude, that's not even a question. Quite obviously the ninjas. While the pirates have hangovers from drinking bad liquor the ninjas would move in and silently slaughter them all at one time.

I went for Pirate, as a lot of Pirates were actually British Sailors that had problems staying in the British Military due to behavioral issues and such.

A decent amount of Ninjas were mere peasants.

As far as a fight goes, it depends on the arena.

That's not realistic, pirates don't sit on land and read books. Anyone who needs stealth in order to win a fight is obviously a puss.

Did you miss my previous post? Most Ninjas were actually partially-trained peasants, given equipment and a target.

Pirates were fully-trained British Navy who had trouble staying in the Navy due to personality issues. Also, a Pirate does not need to be on a boat to be dangerous, though that is where they are most at home.

As far as a hand-to-hand combat goes, swashbuckling relied more on intimidation (aided by a Pirate's fearsome image) than actual swordplay. To be honest, I doubt a non-battle tried Ninja (peasant) would have the grit to stand toe-to-toe with a Pirate and fight. His fear would get him killed. That's NOT including a pistol.

Too many parameters are left open to even begin to make an educated guess as to whom the victor would be.
