hello people i just got rpg maker xp today and i can't seem to get the hang of it i mean it said it was easy to use and understand but honestly i don't understand a thing (not true i understand and figured out some) i was looking at some other forums and i think it messed me up and do we really have to use only the sprites and such they have in there cause i don't really want to and how do like connect maps so that my char can walk from map to the next you know and if someone could give me a link to a very good forum that is very very easy to understand and use that would be very helpful

They're all right here. You can go to google and just do a search for RMXP resources or something too.

As for going to other maps with ur character...you need to make a teleport event. Right click on a part of one of the maps where you want ur character to teleport (a door or something) then go down to the teleport event. This will open up a window that shows the map ur on and on the left is a list of all ur other maps. Click on the map and area u want to teleport u to and ur done! U also need to do this agn on the map u teleported to or else u wont be able to get back.

Also check out the tutorials on that phanx website. They have some good beginner tutorial stuffs, like opening treasure chests and banks and what not.
