Design change for PS3 controller?

At E3 2005, the unveiling of the PlayStation 3 conceptual controller design caused quite a stir. Many fans since the unveiling have said that the boomerang-like shape of the redesigned controller is likely to handle poorly and thus unfortunately fails to meet Sony’s meticulous customer expectations.

Quote:
Of course the controller was just a prototype and was almost bound to undergo modifications since E3. Supporting this conclusion was the fact that at the Las Vegas CES: 2006 a big surprise came when there was no PS3 controller shown alongside the PlayStation 3 console.

I quite liked the boomerang. I wonder what they've done to the design now?

A shut the fuck up maybe.

What people probably don't realize about the "boomerang" controller is that if Sony developed it, they had people testing it. Now I'm no console/controller developer, but from the looks of the controller, I bet that thing will fit perfectly in you hand(w/ the people who have big hands in mind as well as of those with small, it fits nicely either way), prolly a nice grip of the controller and it most likely feels really comfortable in your hands.

Just think about it, why else would they spend so much time and money on the friggin controller if they just wanted a different look than the past two gens.?

They are most likely making it fit the human hand much better(not saying the dualshock 1 and 2 were bad, they were great) but why not make something great amazing?

Just my thought on the whole situation.

I absolutely love the PS3 controller. I'll be sad if they've changed the design a lot from the Boomerang.

As you say, Sony wouldn't just make a controller for the crack of it. Take the PSP for instance. When I first played on my friends I was trying to hold it like a Dual Shock controller, but once you get used to the fact that it isn't actually a Dual Shock controller you jiggle it about a bit and you find an extremely comfortable position. It's amazing.

The same will have been done with the PS3 controller.

That still doesn't make you smarter, or even remotely close to funny for being the first to call the controller a boomerang

It DOES, however, make you a complete tool who obviously didn't get a sense of humor for Christmas.

Nice try, hence the rolling of the eyes.

And what's wrong with a little battle here?

Just like the original 'Duke' Xbox controller... they had people testing it... doesnt mean its perfect. Short time later Microsoft launched the Controller S which is far more comfortable, and now is the standard xbox controller. If Sony is smart, they will come out with a newer version of the controller that does not look like a boomarang, and you can just look at it and say "That looks comfortable."

Seriously when I first saw the PS3 controller, I thought it was a good thing, because it just seemed vastly inferior to the xbox 360 controller, and I am rooting for Microsoft in this next round of consoles. Now weres my damn TES IV Oblivion??? Hurry up already.
