IF you dont plan on picking up a copy, I've alreaydy read mine, The fastest read of a HP book ive had yet, less than 24 hours of course it took me, over the spread of 5 days though.

If you want I could summarize it to you, in maybe 10-15 paragraphs?

It's pretty sad. I almost cried when reading it, but didn't. My 2nd favorite character killed my first favorite character. I'll cry if I see the movie.

Yea. It was, well, decent. I hated when *he* got killed. First time a book has really depressed me. My friend has a certain outlook on the death, though -- I'll tell you in another thread perhaps where we can give away spoilers.

Had I known there would be such outcome, I thought I would be maybe one of two, I had known K_A should've read this, but I apologize that I did not share my feelings on this story as well as you two have.

I was appauled. Knowing that possibly the kindest, sweetest, and one of the most brave character in the seriese was murdered by one of his trusted (thought to be) friend. I would say how he was murdered, but it would almost seem simple to put two and two together. I also cant believe such a character could become a Death Eater. I admit, I nearly cried. Thinking about having more than one 22oz of beer would've been a bad choice, emotions act up when im under the influence of that stuff. I fucking. You know how fawkes the pheonix healed harry's wound in the 2nd book? I was praying that the same would happen for the victim in the 6th book. There must be some reason for this. JKR must have thought about that happening, and the fact that it explained fawkes crying after the death, No book besides HP would ever make me feel this way. I saw ym new kitty come out of the closet, and i so wished that i didnt have a kitty and that it was just a witch coming to tell me about wizard school and that i was a wizard and i could fucking pwn up on voldemort and shit. I havnt even told any of my friends the ending, i feel they will all read the book sooner or later, and if i told them they would just..not feel the same as before.

The mystery remains. Who was RAB?

Any ideas? Also, what will become of Hogwarts in Harry's 7th year? What will become of Ron and Hermoine? This is all so fucking puzzling.

Any idea when the next movie will come out?

RAB is probably Regalus Black, Sirius' brother. He's the only person really that fits the initials and would make sense, unless RAB is someone who we don't know about yet.

!!! your so clever!!!

BUT i highly doubt its Regulas.

I read in an interview with JKR that a question was asked "Are any future books going to include Sirius's brother Regulas, or will we hear from him" and JKR answered with a dick answer "Well seeing how Regulas isnt exactly alive, hes been quiet lately" or something like that.

But JKR has always had the technique to fool and awe the ones who least expect it.....

The thing she does is mention things in books that you don't pick up on until you've read what they are used for...e.g. the way the Order of the Pheonix communicated was touched upon in Goblet of Fire. RAB might be mentioned in one of the earlier books and we just haven't picked up on it yet beacuse we didn't think it important when reading it.

Btw Slaynish, Goblet of Fire is coming out on 18th November here, so unless you lot get it before us, it will be realeased on 18th November in America.

I'd put money on it that it's Regalus. I've been right on about all of my guesses :-P.

Unless Regulus has a horcrux then it can't be him.

I don't think that he would have one, as even most dark wizards don't like making one...or something like that. Only read the book a week ago and I'm already forgetting things......time to read it again I suppose.

Why would he have to have one?

The letter says that he will be dead by the time Voldemort finds out. Regalus doesn't have to necessarily be alive now to be RAB, he just has to have taken Voldemort's horcrux from the cave. It's probably going to be how Harry finds out where the horcrux is, by finding out that RAB is Regalus, then looking wherever Regalus would keep it.

Whoever RAB is, he had to be a follower of Voldemort, because the letter is addressed to "Dark Lord" and nobody called him that but his followers.

RAB can't be Regulus unless he had a horcrux as he was killed by Voldemort. Which means he is well and truly dead:

Regulus Black: Regulus, who shared his parents' pureblood prejudices, joined the Death Eaters willingly because he agreed with their general philosophy, but tried to back out when he realised how far they were prepared to go. He was consequently killed on Voldemort's orders not long before Voldemorts fall.

Yea, I suppose it would have to be Regalus. One thing JK seems to do is bring back seemingly unimportant characters, and give them a bigger part in the story, so there's a good chance it could be Regalus. Of course, she could simply introduce someone new. Since everyone is expecting it to be Regalus, I wouldn't be surprised if JK does bring in a new character.

So he couldn't have done it before he was killed?

The letter reads:

To the Dark Lord

I know I will be dead long before you read this
but I want you to know that it was I who discovered your secret.
I have stolen the real Horcrux and intend to destroy it as soon as I can.
I face death in the hope that when you meet your match,
you will be mortal once more.
R.A.B.

So, from this letter alone, we know that R.A.B.:

Was a follower of Voldemort, since he addressed him as Dark Lord.
Discovered Voldemort's secret(most likely that he was trying to make himself immortal through the use of Horcruxes.)
Knows he will die, and is facing death in hopes that Voldemort will be mortal when he meets his match(Harry Potter.)

What we know about Regulus:
Joined Death Eaters because he agreed with their philosophy.
Found out that they were prepared or preparing to go farther than he thought(most likely Voldemort making himself immortal.

Regulus could have gotten and destroyed the Horcrux (or not destroyed it) before he was killed, which was probably how he was facing death.

Think about it from JKR's point of view. Why have someone steal the horcrux and leave mysterious initials that leaves everyone speculating for a couple of years until HP7 comes out, to reveal that it was someone who's been dead for years and adds no type of new character to the story. Bit of an anti-climax.

Good point though, I'd forgotten the letter said they were long dead...me and my memory eh? Tch!

I'm gonna stick with my thoughts about it not being Regulus.

Now you cna see why I'm not a betting man though......we'll all finish HP7, look back on this thread, see I was horribly, horribly wrong and work out how much I owe people in bets that it wasn't Regulus.

I've never read any of the books and I don't plan on it. That aside. All these things mentioned, I thought I should point out are attributes of a really good author. She's not the only one who does this. Lots a Stephen Kings(hes just the only one off the top of my head right now) books do. Even his books that don't relate to each other, somehow they do in tiny ways it's crazy. Anyways peace.

Well if someone has already posted this... I'm sorry but I can't read this entire thread.

Think back to book 5. Remember when they were cleaning out #12 Grim... place? They found a locket they couldn't open. but the problem is they threw it away. Remember Kreacher kept stealing things and keeping them safe??? He probably got the Horcrux
