Question Mesmer/monk ????

Would it work to have a healer with mesmer as primary? I was thinking this because the mesmers get fast casting so you would be able to cast those heals faster which can be quite helpfull in fast battles. Also being a mesmer would allow for some energy transfer spells to prevent running out of energy too fast. Another advantage would be that in pvp you wouldnt get killed as fast being a mesmer as you would being a monk, right?

So... monk primary big heal, normal cast... or mesmer primary normal heal, fast cast?

If you want to play a primary healer, it is best to play as Monk Primary. Nothing beats divine favor, really. You could arguable use E/Mo for the energy storage and use more heals before you burn out... but you will still run into energy/recharge problem if you spam the heal too much.

Casting speed doesn't seem to be a problem to healer, so for primary healer, definitely choose Mo/Me instead of Me/Mo. You could even try a pure monk and go Smite/Heal, and I'm sure the people in PvP will not expect a monk with teeth... (Not to mention they will have no resistance to Smiting skill)

Yeah I noticed that too now that I have the game. I'm playing a Me/Mo right now at lvl 10, so far I really like the domination and smiting skills (banish, symbol of wrath, backfire, empathy, shatter delusions). Inspiration with its energy tap and ether feast can be nice too. I really enjoy playing a mesmer. It's a bit complicated at first but once you get the hang of it, its awesome.

I might try that monk with heal/smiting when my current char is beginning to bore me, thanks.

but as a healing monk, you wouldnt really have time for smiting skills because you'd be healing every one and using your energy to keep your party alive so that you can stay alive

lifes a bitch and then we die, so i say lets all get high

Yeah thats somewhat true, but sometimes there's enough time to cast a banish inbetween those heals, heal/smite can quite good for pve (farming) though.

Anyway I got my char to 20 a couple of days ago and I'm now in perdition rock. Ascension was a bitch, more than it ever needed to be thanks to noob players...(you'll know when you get there if you havent already)

Elona Reach is easier if you play with Henchies. You have more than enough time to kill the enemies in your way, but most people will try to avoid them and end up aggro two groups at a time, then they'd try to run and get hamstring, and die.

And true, as a monk, your main concern is to heal the party, but if you have warriors and others surrounding you, you won't be very effective at healing anyway. So instead, what would you do?

How about Signet of Judgement, Holy Strike, and Symbol of Wrath? The best thing about this is those warriors will never expect the monk to fight back, and probably don't even know about the offensive abilities of a monk. Not to mention it's all holy damage, meaning they will have no resistance to it whatsoever.
