Samus vs. ANYBODY

I'll argue Samus against any character you guys can name, with the exception of immortal characters like Raziel. Bring your best arguments, and the Metroid Hunter will crush you!

Don't be so arrogant! I am 110% possitive Samus could kill you.

Anyway, I realize I am fighting a losing battle. By doing this, I am sure my character will be annihilated. Still, my Kain obsession demands it!


Jump:
Kain probably cannot jump half as high as Samus. Still, his long-distance jumping ability would be very useful when she is attacking with her beams that freeze and those damn missiles.

Speed:
With those damn boots, even Samus is probably faster than Kain. Still, Kain's speed is not to be taken lightly. Though, his dodging in Mist form from Defiance probably wouldn't work that well, since his enemy is armed with guns as opposed to blades and magic.

Intelligence:
Well, how you battle with Kain is your own decision. Kain, for me, always attacked. I defended when necessary but I mainly just kept on the offensive. Somehow, I don't think that would work all that well here...

From what I can see, Kain cannot win with a decisive blow from the Soul Reaver. He will have to rely on his awesome TK and Magic.

ABILITIES:
Inspire Hate- Causes Kain's human enemies to slaughter each other.
Spirit Death- Rips the soul from his opponent's body. (All manner of being except bosses)
Repel- Reflects Magical attacks. (Not much use)
Spirit Wrack- Rips the soul from the body and allows Kain to manipulate vacant flesh.
Control Mind- Allows Kain to control his opponent. After the spell is done, the person dies.
Kinetic Shackles- Allows Kain to chain his enemy with pure force alone.
TK- Kain can lift and throw the body of his opponent anywhere he wants.
Font of Putresence- Uses toxins to melt the body of his enemy
Flay- Strips the flesh from his enemy.
Slow Time- Very useful. He can slow time for his opponents, but move in full speed.
BERSERK/FURY/IMMOLATE- Powerful attacks used after Kain has defended for a long while.
Teleportation- Not all that clear. Can't tell if there is a limit or not on the distance he can travel with it.
Soul Reaver Energy Attack- A concentrated attack that takes time. In conjunction with Slow Time, it might be very useful.

FORMS

Bat- Allows Kain to turn into a flock of bats and span great distances.
Wolf- Allows Kain to transform into a wolf and leap and jump faster than he previously could.
Mist- Allows Kain to turn into Mist, slipping through barriers and past the enemy.

That's about it. You may destroy my illusions of Kain being victorious now.

Any "character?" Video game character? Comic book char? Novel char? You need to specify before Samus gets several new assholes.

Weapons & Armor
Iron Sword- A typical blade, not extremely powerful.
The Axes- Allows Kain to use a deadly melee attack.
Mace- A Mace that is somewhat powerful and that can be used to destroy barriers and so-on.
Soul Reaver- The most powerful weapon Kain wields. Capable of destroying an enemy in one powerful stroke.
Blood Reaver- Not as powerful. Kain can destroy objects with this blade and it can be used in deadly combinations, but it lacks in strength compared to the Soul Reaver.
Flame Sword- A blade of fire that incinerates Kain's opponents. In Blood Omen, it was even more useful because it can strike opponents faster and Kain can use magic.
Bone Armor- No good.
Iron Armor- Armor forged by hellfire and the Necromancer Mortanius' magics. It is not all that useful.
Flesh Armor- Allows Kain to concentrate on his opponent, killing them while the armor draws out the blood for him.
Chaos Armor- Kains' enemies are quite vicious and the Chaoss Armor extracts a heavy price for their bloodlust. They may be striking him, but it is their body that carries the wounds.
Wraith Armor- Found in "Hell" this armor was forged by the Spirit Forges and gives Kain great defense when it is night. At day, it is useless.

Kain's power is at its peak when it is night. When daylight chases darkness, the vampire's power wanes. Still, Kain is no weakling. Of course, I have already stated that the blade Kain wields and his own physical strength won't help much here. His powerful TK and Magic is his only chance.

Samus could launch herself into the air and hit him constantly with those beams of hers and so-on. Kain could probably avoid most of them with Jump. However, Slow Time seems more useful. Slow time and those missiles are stuck. Then, move out of the way and behind Samus. Also, what if his TK could be used to set off the time-frozen missiles? He could detonate them right in Samus' face. Or, he could move the missiles right back at her.

If that's no good, he could simply grab her body with TK, time is still slowed, and fling her to the ground. Then, the Soul Reaver/Reaver could end this once and for all.

I'll destroy Kain later tonight.

A pox on you and your damn future technology! I don't think any wizard or knight no matter how powerful could take on a Terminator. It's just not possible.

I tell you! Slow Time and TK cannot be beaten. How can Samus, with all her speed and aerodynamics, counteract time itself? Once she is slowed basically to a crawl, Kain can use TK and bring her right to him. One slash from the Soul Reaver and it is over.

To get technical, Slow Time reduces an opponent's speed by 1/4 from what I've read. Still, that's enough for Kain. Also, why wouldn't a basic attack like Spirit Death or Spirit Wrack work? Hell, even the Soul Reaver's Energy Attack would be enough to finish her. Also, he could teleport right to her slowed self and blast her with Berserk or Immolate.

I know there is a way for her to win, but I know too little. You can post, and I'll attempt to counter your plan for her victory, but until then, I am filled with that dreaded illusion. Hope.

One word. Ice Beam. Water based, freezing attack. All she needs is to charge it once, Kain becomes locked in a cocoon of ice and he dies before he manages to thaw. Hell, she could even go the extra mile and use the Ice Spreader to make sure she got him on the first try.

The end.

To be more specific, Spirit Wrack and Spirit Death wouldn't work because they have to cut through her suit's shield in order to work, and neither spell would affect her shields because it's not a living organism.

Immolate could work, but it would only deplete her shields, and once her main energy had been sapped, her backup reserves would kick in and Kain's meter would already be completely drained. He would be totally open to attack and she would demolish him.

Slow time can be counteracted with her Speed Boost. She runs about 3 to 4 times faster than normal, and becomes nearly invulnerable in the process. It could also maybe be argued that Samus's Gravity Suit would counteract the effect of the spell, but that's a stretch.

It would take a bit more than one attack from the Soul Reaver to beat Samus. Again, it would have to cut through her shields, and she's got that backup power that kicks in immediately after the attack.

Plus, she's completely invulnerable for a few seconds after each attack she absorbs, and cannot be harmed in any way once she activates the Screw Attack.

On top of that, Kain has no way to heal himself in this battle. None of Kain's attacks are capable of cutting through her shields, to her body, and therefore he cannot spill her blood. Samus, on the other hand, just needs to blow random shit up and scoop up energy packets to recharge her shields.

If she really wanted to lay the smack down on him, she could use her Light Beam and Sunburst attack to deal him some serious damage. He's technically a dark-aligned creature, and sunlight obviously does him harm. Ice spreader followed by a Sunburst and he's done for.

Again, the end.

Note: Those are in reverse order of badass-atude. If she can't beat one, there's no way in hell she can beat the next one down.

What good is Samus' Ice Beam for one who can teleport? Even a wide-range one wouldn't do much good if Kain teleported behind her. Perhaps the Soul Reaver couldn't take her down in one strike, but an unblocked blow would probably do some nice damage.

A close range fight would disable her ability to use missiles, which is good. However, that damn Ice Beam would make it far too dangerous to stay near her for an extended period. After a quick strike, Kain could Jump away, avoiding whatever Samus' counterattack would be. Unfortunately, being at a far distance, she can unleash far more powerful attacks. Change into Bat form and get the hell out of there before she nukes you, and fly for shelter. I understand she has Infared which makes Mist pointless, since she doesn't fight with her hands or a handheld weapon, like a sword or staff.

He obviously can't stay in Bat form forever, and coming out of it is gonna be tricky business. Seeing as how there is no arena for me to consider, I think that Kain would simply have to change right over her head. She can't hit him there, because her weapons' shockwave from whatever she did will take her down with Kain.

After quickly changing from Bat form to regular Kain, teleport. I think this is a good plan. Consistantly teleporting would make most enemies furious, increasing rage and making their aim sloppy. I dont' know if Samus is that kind of girl, but if she isn't, no problem.

If you want a simple-ass battleplan, simply teleport right behind her, use Telekenesis and throw her at him and then use an attack like Cadaverous Laceration. (sp?) She may have shields and back-up shields, but if all that doesn't get the job done, throw her away and nail her with Lightning.

Well, that's the best I can do. Kain won't just stand there like a dumbass why she uses stuff like Ice Spreader. Teleport, Jump, TK, Soul Reaver strike, magic attack, etc.

If Kain armed himself with, say the Time Reaver, instead of the Soul Reaver, he could inflict less damage, but if he could charge it, then the effect would be similar to that of Slow Time. Of course, like I said, the Soul Reaver is still the better option since it deals more damange. Kain can simply use Slow Time, I guess. Just a thought of mine, but it would be foolish to use anything but the Soul Reaver against this woman.

Samus' X-Ray, Thermographic, Dark and Echo Visors allow her to track invisible and teleporting enemies. No dice.

"Unblocked blow"? No such thing. Her shields are up as long as she's wearing her suit.

She can't hit him there, because her weapons' shockwave from whatever she did will take her down with Kain.

Wrong, boyo. Samus' own weapons don't deal her any damage. She doesn't have to worry about splash damage, so distance isn't an issue.

Kain's in danger no matter where he is. The Ice Beam is more dangerous at close range, and the Light Beam is most dangerous at medium range.

For long range, Samus has the Annihilator Beam, which is sonic-based, which Kain is also weak against due to his Vampiric nature. If Samus wanted to end the battle as quickly as possible, she could just unload a Sonic Boom attack, which would completely immobilize him from the start, leaving him open to an Ice Spreader. He'd be done literally in seconds.

1) That one's pretty damned easy, Bob. All she'd have to do is stall. Black Mage would be ousted from power within a few minutes, and all he'd have left to throw at her would be Hadoken, which her backup shields could fix instantly.

I have no idea how to combat the other two, however. I've never read any of the Dragonlance books, so you're gonna have to give me something to work with.

If either of those characters is invincible or immortal, I already banned them from this battle. They have to have some form of weakness, and it can't be a Superman's "Kryptonite," Deus Ex Machina thing either.

... I know when the battle is done. Very well, then. Kain has fallen. How in the hell is it any fun in the game when you're character is armed with every kind of weapon and defense? Her enemies must fall before her by the dozen.

Maybe someone should summon Samus to kill the Elder God.

"Lord Soth," he said, turning to greet the death knight. Kitiara bit her lip as Raistlin's hourglass eyes studied the undead knight's armor. Here were still the graven symbols of a Knight of Solamnia--the Rose and the Kingfisher and the Sword--but all were blackened as if the armor burned in fire. "Knight of the Black Rose," continued Raistlin, "who died in flames in the Cataclysm before the curse of the elfmaid you wronged dragged you back to bitter life." "Such is my tale," the death knight said without moving. "And you are Raistlin, master of past and present, the one foretold." I can raise a wall of ice to protect those I serve. The invisible is descernible to my eyes. Ordinary magic spells crumble in my presence." Raistlin nodded, the folds of his hood moving gently. Lord Soth stared at the mage without speaking. Walking close to Raistlin, he stopped only inches from the mage's frail body. Kitiara's breath came fast. Then, with a courtly gesture, the cursed Knight of Solamnia placed his hand over that portion of his anatomy that had once contained his heart. "But I bow in the presence of a master," Lord Soth said.

That's a decent summary of Soth.

Raistlin made huge sacrifices to further his power in magic. He is, literally speaking, both of the most powerful mages of all time (in the Dragonlance saga). I don't want to give away too much in hopes that you will read some of this series. Raistlin, as far as I can describe, is the epitome of the badass. If sincere need arises, I'll give some specific examples, but, without context, they won't seem very fair. It'll just seem like he's a "god-character."

Well, these are D&D books, correct? These two are sorcerers, then, I am to assume.

Considering that they're both obviously high-level characters, I'll assume that they probably don't even need to bother with somatic or material components. Soth revealed, at the very least, that spoken components are needed by him to cast. I can't say the same for Rasitlin, but it doesn't really matter.

Magic, in D&D, at the very least takes time and concentration to use. If Soth still needs to use spoken components, he's already looking at a serious disadvantage because that's a tell-tale. Samus will see it coming a mile away.

Either way, you're looking at spell-casters going up against a highly armored bounty hunter who needs no preparation time for her attacks. The only thing Samus needs time for is scanning her opponent, which only takes a few seconds and completely reveals the capabilities and weaknesses of the scanned opponent. Samus is simply too versatile to be taken out by a mage.

Okay. I'll give it another shot.

Sephiroth.

He is alot like Kain, when it comes to fighting. He is powerful in close-range combat with the Massamune and at a distance, with magic attacks like Shadow Flare. Then, there is the business of which form he takes on. In human form, he has greater mobility, being able to teleport and fly. In Bizzarro Sephiroth form, he has the ability to revive parts of himself after they are damaged and cannot be used any more. Safer Sephiroth is the most powerful of them all, and since Seph can take on all the magics used in his other forms, Safer Sephiroth's magic power plus the addition of his other magics, makes him quite formiddable.

Plus, he has no weaknesses. (Besides his storyline)

Go ahead. Destroy him.

Well upon consideration, Soth probably wouldn't be allowed in the fight against Samus at all... Since he's undead, I don't think she has anything that can kill him, and thus, he's effectively immortal.

Raistlin, on the other hand, is mortal. He neither needs spell components or words to cast spells. He... damnit, Raziel. My friend Gary has been trying to get me to read those books for years. I'll probably end up doing it at some point. I'm always a bit hesitant about reading D&D or Star Wars books. For some reason, it always feels too damned nerdy to me. I'll put some consideration into reading them, though.
