Blacksmith? Need help~

I was wondering if a Blacksmith System was possible in the RPG Maker... just like suikoden 1,2 and 3 how instead of buying new weps you just upgrade them.... I'm kind of a new wit this stuff.... so if anyone can tell me if it is possible... and if so, how can i do this..? Thanks! -Alex
