The article said:

This guy hit him with an axe (the handle, but still..). Do you really think that would be the language you would use? It's like getting your hand cut off, and saying "Golly gee whiz, this hurts." He probably said something much, much more vulgar.. but the editor cleaned it up a bit.

What a crap-tastic article. Just look at the accompanying photos. A computer with the caption "the men were interested in computers" below it, and a photo of a courtroom. Just plain lazy.

I just watched some Amazon show with John Cleese, and the first thing I read here was "Attacker hacked with axe". I need some sleep.
