Actually your bsing what you said right there, unless a shock damaged your brain, you can't get shocked, or for the matter knock your power out without completing a circuit, if you stuck a nail file in one side it wouldn't do anything to you. And even if you did complete a circuit somehow it wouldn't knock your power out, it would probably barerly shock you, or some amps would get into your system and kill you.

Well, actually, let's discuss this a bit more. You seem to understand what a circut is, considering your statement, but your assumption you can't be shocked, is wrong. Did you know that when the neutral carries the electric back to your panel that it actually goes to ground? Basically if you stick a conductor in a socket, and are grounded, you WILL be shocked. It's what is called a short circut. AND for further clarity, it is possible to blow the entire house's power out, if the house in on a main breaker. I've had a battery charger (for a forklift) blow, and it didn't blow the fuses in it, or the panel it came from, BUT the MAIN Panel is the one it blew.
BTW, I am an electrical controls technician. I do know what i am talking about.
