My theory is derived from the Diablo II forge quest. Some say that if you repaired the hammer before using it, it would bring better quality runes. Well, im looking for confirmation on this but, my theory is that if you repair before a boss fight you will have a higher chance of getting better drops, and this is my reasoning...

Until it is proven wrong, im assuming that when you armor is damaged as are the stats you get from that armor. So say you had 15% Loot Find (max) and you armor was pretty dinged up, now that eats away at your LF which is actually now only 10%. Just something i thought i would share.

OMG I have noticed that also I was playing helheim with some guy with the fjord hammer but when I got to the last part of hel I SWITCHED to my maxed out(llot drop) Dual wield staves and then I got my rageplate helm.But when I usually play with it from the begining and it gets damaged from all the deaths I dont get crap.You Might be on to something here.

my instance is very similar - i was doing helhiem on single player when i was in the last room before hel herself. the shockwave guy, + the life leech guy, and all the little zombies somehow managed to corner me and kill me. when i ressed i ressed right in the middle of the entire pack and tried to fight my way through but without any combo meter it was hard to get them off of me. they must of killed me 25 times before i finally got out and killed them. after the battle my entire body was flashing red (a note that you should repair ) so i went back to aesir and repaired, and started back where i was and went on to kill hel without dying and i got my elite pants .

Meh I just switch weapons, everytime I leave to aesir I dont get as good as loot as if I would have stayed and played it from start to finish.

Why dont you just get a damage weapon and switch to your loot drop weapons when you get to a boss.

because my altruist armor is a quick easy find and its socketed and makes me look like a sword slinging badass
