Well...technically it was one attempt, but it was on and off during the course of a few weeks. One or two hours at a time every night. AT level 99 for all my characters.

I used Vaan, Basch, and Penelo. I had Vaan and Basch attack while Penelo stayed just down a set of stairs in the northern part of the stadium using magic.

Thats cheating! It doesn't count until you go through your menu options, change your menu style to memory. Exit out, engage the weapon, use Summon > Knights of the Round <linked> hp/mp absorbed mastered, and then cast mimic on your other two characters, follow it all up with some tape on the O button and you are all set.
