I WANT YOU for Zelaron tester

If you don't live with your head in the ground, you know that I started working on forum upgrades a while ago. What you may not know is that I need testers especially for the forum style and though I've tried to recruit some, dynamic IPs have thwarted my efforts.

So now, I'm changing how testers are authenticating and opening it up. Anyone with Full or Senior member status and about 25% activity can be a tester.

Feel free to beat on everything, but what needs testing the most is the style. The default vb3.6 style is enabled on the test forums so you can compare stuff and see what's broken/missing. Please post all issues in the TODO thread stickied in forum discussion on the test forum.

To start testing, click here; the authorization requires cookies, lasts 12 hours, and requires you to not logout from the normal forum.

It requiring cookies means that it won't persist across machines, I assume? Meaning I'll have to wait until I go home or have a decently long shift to play around with it.

I will do it when I get home and just leave my laptop on overnight.

I think some of you guys are getting the wrong idea here. You are not restricted to 12 hours of testing; the authorization for the computer expires after 12 hours. You can always go back and re-authorize. Also note that you can log out of the test board without effecting it; only logging out of the real board is an issue.

Awww. Poor Chruser. You need 25% activity.

Are there any specific things that need to be tested, WW, or the whole thing in general?

Great work, this has so much potential! The User CP could probably be moved down to allow something else in its place though.

Some style-related issues:
  • Broken User CP images in Synthesis 2 Deep Stone, Royal Emblem, Gray and Military Cammouflage [sic].
  • Difficult-to-see activity bars in Ocean and Zephios due to low contrast.
  • Hard to read white links in Zephios.
  • WAP theme looks slightly strange in FF, not sure how it looks on a phone.
  • Style menu defunct in WAP theme.
  • Synthesis header is painfully large (vertically) on conventional laptop resolutions (this applies to all Synthesis themes on the rest of the forum as well, although I guess the alpha and beta versions could be left alone due to the fact that they look cool). I don't care if I made it "flashy", it's several years old.
