I got called down on thursday. Huge waste of time, had to get down there at 7:45. Ended up sitting around til 9 when the first group was called and taken up stairs. I thought I was lucky to get in that, ended up waiting on the 4th floor for the case before to finish, which wasn't until 11:30. I got put on the jury, they basically put all the jurors names in a box and pull out 13?. Then got asked questions from the judge, and removed by the prosecution.
Remeber to bring something to do, a book or homework is prolly best. Also don't bring your cell phone near in, or atleast in detroit then you have to walk back to your car. Imo its a pretty horrible set up they have, but I can't get called back for another year.
It would really depend on the case, and why you were at court. If the judge sees a conflict in interest then you would more than likely be removed from that trail.
Yea, for the trail I was almost on, there was a police officer on the jury would could have gotten off the trial by saying that he took the words of fellow officers as the utmost truth and thought they were incapble of lying. Due to other officers that were witness he would have been excused. However, he said he would just listen to thier testimony as if they were regualer people and wasn't removed right then. But the defense attorney went ahead and removed him anyway.
Also if you had a dad, uncle or brother that was an officer, this could impact you and get you taken off the course. But even if you are removed from one case, you could get placed on another, or be asked to come back another day depending on what the courts rules regaurding jury duty there.
