Need Help! PLEASE!

i just dl'ed the rpg maker 2k... it is the sweetest pog ever!
so, as you can tell i am a n00b at this program...i was wondering if their are any on-line tutorials on this prog or any guides... and if not, what im wondering right now is, how can i add a charcter to the game? like i start off with my hero... but i want this girl standing next to him at the start, so that when he talks to her, the story will unfold, and a mission will then be made...how do i do this? can anyone explain and if possible just add some screenshots/pics of how to do it... this would be a great learning for me and the viewers of this thread, and im sure the mods would give you gold... please help me, thank you.
