AS PREDICTED, Intel lowered prices on a heap of products including desktop processors, Celeron Ds, Celerons, Centrino Pentium Ms, and the like.
One of the biggest cuts is on the 560 processor, a 3.60GHz Pentium 4 Prescott with a 800MHz system bus speed. That drops from $637 to $417, although the chip was only launched in July.
There is also a big price drop on the 550, a 3.40GHz 90 nanometre Pentium 4, which falls in price from $417 to $278, while the 540 drops to $218.
The price of the 3.40GHz Extreme Edition with 2MB of Gallatin L3 cache, stays stable at $999.
Well, that's opened up my options a bit, I was going to go AMD for my new system but I'm unsure now.. we'll see how far prices actually go for the consumer.
