This a viable pally pvp build...?

I saw a guy using this and he owned everyone 3vs1. No one could hit him and when they did it didn't do too much. But every time I say something about it to a friend they say that a V/t is much better. Anyways;

20 smite
20 fanat
20 holy shield
20 defiance

helm; 2 ber coa
armor; enigma
weapon; doom
shield; exile
belt; verdungo
boots; goreriders
gloves; draculs grasp
ammy; maras
rings; raven/bk or bk/bk

so he had maxed fanat aura going, lvl 16 defiance, holy freeze, then maxed holy shield+maxed defiance as synergy=lots of defence.

maxed resist and dr

anyways, he owned everything in site.... but didnt see a good V/t come in so i dunno...

is it a viable build? (this is ladder by the way)

Yeah I am pretty sure the V/t would own this guy. He is just a smiter.

the v/t has pretty much become the strongest pally build, that build is for noobs which is all i have to say, as maxing def doesnt do shit IMO, ive hit 53k def with only 13kAR using a barb, and most melee chars are either ww'ing u or smiting u

Not only is he focused on defense only, which isnt that useful concidering Smite and all elemental clasees and magical classes ignore defense, but its lacking Smite damage and resistances. The problem with exile is it has no increased blocking nor any useful stats other then life tap. This build is incredibly BM and I have dueled many pally like this and destroyed them. The only pally thats stands a chance vs a v/t are Mages or Asteron smiters.

when you say mage what kind of skills are you talking about like hammer dins or what? and the asteron smiters are only good because ther + damage is counted for smite and isnt penalized right?

Mages are FoH + Hammer balanced builds. My Mage has 4.5k Hammers and 3k FoH at level 80.

As for Asteron Smiters, they only stand a chance due to the Slow, but the bug does help. If asteron didint have slow, it would be very easy to beat.

my barb sometimes manages to kill a hammerdin with good stuff/skills

id say stick to one of them, not both (id prefer hammer, cuz FoH is even more gay)

FoH is REALLY easy to negate.... slap on a 4ptopaz shield or use resis aura on the pally or a 4 lo'd shield could work. Don't know why people hate it so much...

Hmm what might happen if they have lite facets up the ass? A monarch can have 4, a phase blade can have 6. A helm can have 3. An armor can have 4. Assuming those are perfect lite facets, thats -85 to your resists and +85 percent to their damage. Add that on to the lost resists from his aura, and your fucked. But I doubt anybody does that.

I use an assassin, and when shes under the pallys aura, she STILL has max resists. She's got 2x wisp projectors (14 LA each), Blackthorns mask, and tgods, and some of these mofos STILL take away 1/8-1/4 of my hp per hit

FoH just does way too much damage.... thats one of the reasons why its even lamer then traps. Maybe try some absorb ?

Tgods, wisp's, and blackthrons all give Lite absorb.....

14 each from the wisps. I think 20 from the tgods, and 20 or so from the mask.

Thats 68 lite absorb (to lazy to check if those are the actual stats on itams!)...

The lamest it gets are minion-stacking Necros. FoH is easily countered, and only noobs will make a pure FoH build these days.

Hammerdins are fairly lame, but they at least have their limits, so are counterable.

A mage is acceptable, mainly due to the fact that their Hammers aren't the 2-3 hit kills that pure Hammerdins' are.


Just to keep on topic, yes, that build is pretty horrible. It will get you NK'ed in ANY duel.
