Yup, I've had it since Saturday. Its at the point where my entire throat is almost closed. If it gets any worse, the doctors said they will have to drain my tonsils... I can barely swallow my own fucking spit, and anything non-liquid hurts too much.
I finally got to the doctor's office today and he gave me antibiotics, liquid novacaine (Thank God) to numb to pain, and some other prescription shit to get my 102+ fever down. I haven't been sick like this in quite some time, and it sucks.
When I was younger, I used to get strep throat almost weekly. It was terrible. I missed a whole bunch of school because of it, so they eventually decided to surgically remove my tonsils. I still remember the feeling, the constant vomiting, the pain in the throat while eating anything. It wasn't good. They usually gave me Amoxicillin and that made it go away after a while.
Yeah, well this is the second flare up in as many months, but this time it's really bad... If it keeps happening, I'm definitely getting my tonsils removed. It's not extraordinary surgery.
The novacaine is so nasty though. I'm supposed to gargle a teaspoon then swallow, every 2 hours. I can only use it when I'm in extreme pain, because it almost induced instant vomitting both times I took it so far. It works great, but the first five minutes are near death...
Well, its actually called Lidocaine Hydrochloride Oral Topical Solution, but when the Dr. was giving me the prescription, he was calling it novicaine, since it numbs my throat.
The surgery actualy wasn't too bad. It doesn't really feel any different. The only problem with the surgery is that about all you can eat afterwards is Jello, and that gets old. I never thought I could get tired of Jello, but eating it three times a day gets old.
