keyloggers

hey i just found out i had a keylogger in my copmuter and it was named hotkeyhook, anyone know what could happen to my computer?? or how i did i get it?? plz help!!

no idea...delete the program though...ive never heard of it

it might just directly upload it 2 an internet server or somethin i dunno...but deffinetly delete the program.

i cant find much info on google.

u could also try looking up recently modified documents 2 find the docs...i dont know how ud approach this problem though...sorry

and im betting you are considering the volumes upon volumes of controversy around it
there is a lot of talk about this by ignorant ppl.. but really this is NOT malware.. but as the name suggests a library for hooking keypresses
there is released source code for it somewhere.. i dont remember where
however.. this library was used by a trojan(s?) and thus many avs detected it as malware
and since most ppl are unable to be sure.. the "better safe than sorry" took effect

this file by itself is not harmful and is nothing to worry about
its used often by game cheats/trainers since its simple to use
so if u use those often thats most likely where it came from

I remember a while ago I had a keylogger that would start up as my windows starts up.

I could turn it off every time i booted up my computer, but there was no way of uninstalling it...it wasn't located in program files and i did a search and i couldnt find it.

I think it was called Perfect Tools Keylogger or something, but i ended up formatting my computer...

You can ask mantralord as well. He has designed quiet a few keyloggers for other people and himself. He uses them for d2 accounts, maybe he knows the remedy on how to get rid of them easily and efficiently.

ehh...well the log files could be stored anywhere...delete the file itself though and make sure u know whats running when ur computer starts up
