beating super mario brothers in 5:27...can it be done?

Hey everyone, I've been a fan of super mario brothers ever since playing it when I was 6 years old. this was around 1989 so nintendo was still the king when it came to video game systems. There was a laundermat my mom used to go to and there was a nintendo with the mario brothers game there. I played that game every time I went there and now years later I'm happy to say I feel I've beaten it in 5:58.
Now earlier this summer I chanced upon the Twin Galaxies website which has all the video game world records recorded. I though I'd check out the record for the fastest completion time for super mario brothers...I was BLOWN AWAY! the record was 5:27. That inspired me to see how fast I could beat it and my best so far is 5:58. Keep in mind I was going full speed, jumping over the piranna plants even when they were up and stopping for power up's only when necessary, like in order to warp to world 8 for example...and I still only got 5:58. All of this leads me to one question.......how do you beat the game in under 5:27. what is the secret? If anyone has beaten the game in under 5:27 please respond and let me know how you did it. thank you.

Use warps, I've never really tried, but I can get to world 8 in like an hour.

I thought you meant 5 minutes for a while, and was like "omfg thats insane!"

Anyways, I can't think of it being too hard. Just keep trying and trying.

I just get confused on the last dungeon.

Do you mean you have to play it through without warps?
