My run ins with the law...
When I found out that I was the father of some girl who I'd only met once's baby, I was pissed and alittle scared.
Anyways, I got a letter of the child support agency saying basically "Come in and get a DNA test to determine who's the father." I figured "Can't be me, it was only one time, and she wasn't ovulating. There were a few others (I didn't know that at the time of coitus.)
Obviously, I was wrong. It was me. I got fingerprinted, and they took a blood sample to keep my DNA on record. Then I had to go talk to my Lawyer ad liadem, and he was a jerkoff. He wasn't a real lawyer, he worked out of an old house, he was a slow dumb type of guy.
He talked to me about all of my options and such, and how with each one, I was basically screwed with whichever I chose. I could deny paternity, and have an ongoing and costly legal battle with her about paternity, I could take full custody and have her sorry ass pay me child support (but I'd also have to take care of a fucking child). Or I could just go with the flow and pay her child support.
I chose to pay her child support, and avoid some of the bullshit I didn't want to deal with. By pening in my name on that sheet of paper, I fucked myself over, not that any of the other options were better though.. It was settled, I had a court date to go to like 3 weeks later.
My Dad hired a lawyer of his own, the same one he's been using for the longest time. The two lawyers discussed the whole thing, and decided we'd chosen the best option. The only complaint was that they wanted %17 of my Dad's monthly paycheck, which would have been $750, and we couldn't afford to lose that money, he had just bought our Corvette.
I showed up at court, and I guess there were other child support issues being discussed. I got to listen to some of the couples that tried to stay together break up, and fight over all this little stupid shit. Since I was a minor, they had my trial in what they call "closed court" where only court officials and people related to the case are allowed.
The girl showed up with her guardian and lawyer ad liadem, all of them looked rather shabby, and to be honest quite foolish. The funny thing is their lawyer that they had appointed for them was the same lawyer my Dad tried a few years back when my grandmother died (to figure out the trust and such, his sister tried to steal it all). And he ended up fucking it all up, so my Dad got the lawyer that he also got for this case, and he straightened it out and they won.
Back to the court thing. I had to go up on stand and state my name, swear to tell.. blah blah. After getting all that shit out of the way, they asked me what I wanted to do. I told them my decision, and then the girl had to go up there and do the same. The court was just about to give their closing words when the lawyer my Dad appointed looked at my lawyer ad liadem, told him he wasn't the best lawyer, and he stood up and asked about the $750. After some working on him, the judge set it at $250, which included birthing costs, immunizations, and money for the child.
The mother of the child seemed veyr disappointed, almost as though she had been doing this just for money, evil bitch. Anyways, court adjourned, and Dad went and bought me some stuff to cheer me up.
And now I'm stuck paying for a child I never get to see because the mother hates me for some fucking reason. It's hard not seeing your daughter, the one who means the most to you. I may only be 15, but at least I'm making attempts to see my child. I'm going to set a court date to demand that I be able to see her. We have split custody, let me get my part of it.
