Proxy help

I am a n00b and I would like to know if someone could show me a good proxy and then help me set it up.

What kind? Http, wingate, etc?

lol hmm I do not even know what that effects could you go into greater detail?

well ya i would like one too... basically... i want a proxy that works

Well a wingate can be used for programs. ie FlashFXP can connect to the wingate and have that connect to the ftp you are trying to access and that wingate sends the info to you.
However you can never be completely anonymous this way because most / all wingates keep logs and if the fbi or something want they can supena the wingate admin to give them the logs and find that you used it.
This is of course if you are using it unauthorized / for illegal stuff.

lol the truth is I am not gonna hack nothing or need to be anyonmous. I just want to be able to get into these other forums I was banned from.

Oh. Then you would want a http proxy (port 8080 or 80) find a proxy site, get a working / relatively fast one and I will help you set it up.

Once you find a proxy list..

And in your case, to go on forums that your IP address has been banned just click on Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings (assuming you're on IE)

Check both the checkboxes and fill in the IP address and the port of the proxy server. Try connecting to a site and if it doesn't work, just try another proxy.

johnny what proxy server do you use?

That is the way to do it if you are on a broadband connection. If you are on dialup click your connection and click Setup and then do the same thing Dalton said but in that box not in LAN Settings.

a few of them have issues so if you find one you don't like jus switch it with a new one
