Has no one explained to him what the symbols are? I'll take the time out of my day to do it now.

< = Less Than
> = Greater Than

How to tell the difference between > (greater than) and < (less than).
Ok When you look at "<". What point do you see first? The open end, or the smaller end? Well here in America we read Left to Right so we can conclude that the "<" symbol is Less Than because we saw the smaller portion first.

Ok When you look at ">". What point do you see first? The open end, or the smaller end? Well here in America we read Left to Right so we can conclude that the ">" symbol is Greater Than because we saw the larger portion first.
