From their base in Germany they're keeping tabs on the French opressors. Without these guys the French would break the bonds keeping them in France and try and invade England, and, if ever they won (which is highly impossible...we've always pasted them), try and take over the world from their new base in Westminster!

It's a good thing they're there to stop those arrogant bastards in their tracks.
