I used to have faith in Steam... I still think it has potential. With the release of Half-life 2, most of Valve's customers got a taste of just how shoddy (and stupid) it is set up. People who have the retail version of HL2 (discs and all) were unable to play the game without first connecting to Steam (and registering) and the installing a bunch of stupid shit. Although that idea is stupid, it's not that bad. The bad part was that for more than half of them, the fucking shit didn't even work and when it finally did install, the game had a host of compatibility errors. Dumb bastards.
