Meh. I don't like trying to use it _just_ for the purpose of lag in the event someone happens to have a better connection than I (as no matter how good one's connection is, someone always has a better one) and lag can hurt me as much as anyone else if the desynch goes the wrong way (exception being chargadins deliberate desynch attempt seems to get the better end though just by nature of the attack). Just dumping points into something for the sake of having nothing to raise doesn't make sense to me really as if it was a worthless set of points you could always pump more into revives for the hell of it or summon resist...or hell golem for another minion. No I think its important in a hybrid to have an offensive personal spell 1) to kill those first few monsters to start the minion pool and 2) in case you come up against someone who's wrecking your minions in which case you're in serious trouble but at least you have something to keep them on guard with. I agree its a decent bonus but I believe there's a method to this madness.
