It's much, much more preferred (if someone's already replied, or it's been more than an hour or so) to reply to the reply. That way, people can see that you posted again, and it bumps the thread to the top. It also lets ME personally know because I check for any and all new posts in this area..

Nothing wrong with editing your posts if you want to fix grammar or something, or if you want to add to what you just posted.
