The problem is that nobody hardly has played Earthbound. Everyone is going strictly off of Ness's abilities on a 2D multiplayer-fighting game, which is entirely the wrong way to view him.

Ness is a bad-mamma-jamma, and there's no doubting it. While Cloud is a formidable opponent, I highly doubt that he would be able to withstand the mental prowess that is Ness.
