Most Anticipated upcoming Final Fantasy?

which one of these are you most urgent to see released?

Raziel 2002-09-12 05:06 PM

Crystal Chronicles. I don't care about Final Fanteverquest, and if FF 12 is anything like FF 10, I'm not interested.

Sum Yung Guy 2002-09-12 05:24 PM

Is FFXII going to be a single player plot driven rpg? If so thats what I want... I am severly bitter about FFXI being a mmorpg tho =/

Raziel 2002-09-12 06:07 PM

Yeah, 12 is supposed to be going back to the regular scheme of the series.

I know what you mean...
but I think FF 11 won't be half bad! even bring some new elements to the series

You never played a mmorpg have you? And lots of previews said its alot like Everquest with but with FF Monsters..... thats a bad thing, oh and then there gonna be your people who hack the game too.

Raziel 2002-09-12 10:06 PM

MMORPG's just suck. When the entire atmosphere of the game relies on other people staying in character and interacting well with others it ceases to be fun fairly quickly.

I played UO :p on penguins server which = bsorpg not mmorpg
Boring sigle player online role playing game (it was when no one else was on but besides that I haven't)
it is a lot harder to hack the game when it is on a ps2 plus I think square will handle it well....
but your right I am a mmorpg n00b first online game I played was d2 and now socom thats about it with my mmorpg history

I dunno I am still gonna get FF XI and Everquest for the ps2 also you got me into star wars galaxies it sounds awesome ( I just hope the monthly fees aren't too extreme)

Sum Yung Guy 2002-09-13 01:43 AM

Reason number one that console online games are the easist to hack.... gameshark. Any data that is in memory can be altered with gameshark. Now mmorpgs usually save most of there data on there servers wich makes them less prone to hacks compared to games like diablo... but that brings us to our next reason.
Patching bugs... think if diablo 2 was an online console game... how exactly would they patch all those dupes and hacks? Send out all the buyers new patched CD everytime something is fixed?

If you ever played Phantasy Star Online for Dreamcast on Seganet you will know exactly what I mean.

Medieval Bob 2002-09-13 06:25 AM

Um... PS2 Harddrive... Don't forget that FFXI is coming out on PC also.

I)ark_Phoenix 2002-09-13 02:02 PM

I'm eager to try out FF11 at least once... and i guess I'll be waiting for FF12 too... FF12 is going to be the same style as the old ones right?

I understand that Square wanted to try something new and get FF11 to be like Everquest, and see what happens... I wished that FF11 to be like any other RPGs out there but just different ppl come into battle.

Raziel 2002-09-13 03:42 PM

I just wish that they hadn't named it FF11. It shouldn't be part of the central Final Fantasy continuity. It should just be "Final Fantasy Online."

I)ark_Phoenix 2002-09-14 07:37 AM

ya... and they should have gone with a diff series for the online FF games... and let the single player games just create a series. With a mix of single and online doesnt create a great series i say.

playstation 2 saves on servers just like the mmorpgs
the only thing saved on the memory card is network settings and logins...

also the gameshark can be used to hack the console online games but beens PS2 takes a very aggressive stance on the matter you will be banned from the id of the network adapter

as soon as the HDD comes out there will be patches available!!!

Sum Yung Guy 2002-09-14 02:44 PM

So in order to play an mmorpg on ps2 I will need.
1. The game
2. Network Adapter
3. PS2
4. Harddrive

I just dont think alot of people are going to want to get all that to play an mmorpg that they also have to pay for $10 a month or so...

JohnnyTAE 2002-09-14 02:58 PM

a lot cheaper then a pc when you look at it like that and by then the ps2 will be very PC like with a web browser, and so on...
it's up to you I am not gonna try and sell you on it, but I know you are missing out!

Sum Yung Guy 2002-09-14 03:06 PM

What am I missing out on? One game? SOCOM? All those mmorpgs will be on computer, and the nice thing about computer is you can update it with new parts, I like consoles and all but for multiplayer of the internet no.. mulitplayer split screen at my house yes.

mightychicken 2002-09-15 12:29 PM

11's gonna be crack, i'm looking forward to it the most

I)ark_Phoenix 2002-09-15 04:23 PM

Socom looks like an amazing game to me, and Im looking forward to FF11 as well, but I just hope its good.

Raziel 2002-09-15 05:32 PM

I have to agree with SYG. Straight up console multiplayer is great. ONLINE console multiplayer just doesn't sound appealing at all. I've never been able to understand WHY someone would want to play online multiplayer games anyway. Half the fun is being noisy and obnoxious as you're playing. You can't do that with online games.
