I got owned.
Some how someone gained access to my account and stole all of my gold and the guild gold. Fuck!
I know I didn't download anything and only one other person knows my login information and I basically live with him. Does anyone know if Blizz will refund my shit? |
They will, but they shouldn't. Dunno if they'll refund the guild money or not, but they'll restore your characters.
There's really no excuse for getting your account stolen. Get a Blizzard Authenticator. They cost a whole $6 with free shipping. It pretty much makes you immune to losing your account, unless someone physically takes your authenticator from you AND knows your account/password. Really, I think Blizzard should just include one in every WoW box. If they're selling them for $6 with free shipping, I would imagine it would barely affect the cost of the game. They really should just require them, honestly. |
Why shouldn't they? I'm not computer illiterate and I know a scam email when I see one, also I didn't download anything so I do not see how this would be my fault?
|
Maybe you had an easily guessed password or used the same password elsewhere? Could someone that knows you have used the secret question to get the password? Does anyone have access to your e-mail?

There's no way you can lose your account that ISN'T your fault. Especially when they offer a dirt cheap way to make your account as secure as Fort Knox. |
Damn, you guys are brutal. Whatever no point in fighting this battle.
Thanks for your help. Assholes. peace out |
Your account getting hacked is not your fault..
|
My passwords are always a random series of letters and numbers. My passwords are win.
Now that I've said that, I'm expecting a hax. |

Edit: That'd be like trying to sue Ford after you purchase a brand new car, get sideswiped by a Semi and having the semi flee the scene. You may not be at fault, but you are still out a ton of money. You should be humping Blizzard's nuts right now trying to get some compensation, for free. |
[11:45] chicnstu012: Why the fuck are you such a dick lately
[11:45] *** Auto-response sent to chicnstu012: At work, probably working [11:49] chicnstu012: What, do you not know? [12:17] *** "chicnstu012" signed off at Mon Jul 27 12:17:32 2009. Why are you making it personal? It's nothing personal, I'm just being honest. There's no excuse for getting your account stolen, and if you do, it's your fault no matter how you look at it. Blizzard is not responsible for the security of your computer, and they offer a very cheap way to make your account absurdly secure. There's no possible way that your account got stolen that ISN'T your fault. If you disagree, give me an example. |
I have an example: If the WoW servers were to crash and you log into your account and all of your stuff is gone.
|
That's not getting your account stolen, though. That's just losing your shit. There's no way your account can be stolen that isn't your fault, short of someone literally hacking into Blizzard's servers and stealing your password from Blizzard themselves.
Or someone bruteforcing your account/password, I guess, but nobody should even know your account name so that's still pretty far-fetched. |
Ok...
what if Ninjas sneak in, and watch you type it in. I mean, come on... they are ninjas... Honestly though, I never thought about it this way before, and it looks like K_A is right... It's probably your fault, unless you got uber hacked. |
I agree, but i'm refferring to maybe -Spector- doesn't actually know what happened to his shit, and is just quick to point fingers at solutions without taking the extra step of investigation.

Yeah, but then you're picking what could be an invalid account and spending a large quantity of time trying to bruteforce the password to said invalid account. That's why I said it's far-fetched. You'd be better off putting that time and energy towards developing and distributing keyloggers to all of the retards that play the game.
|
Brute-forcing on WoW isn't really ideal. You are going to spend hours upon hours of brute-force trying to work its way to each account/password when really if you can just figure out a few account of people that play WoW you have a much, much easier time getting the password that way.
