I need intelligent people in here now.

Okay Intelligent mother fuckers. I was given this puzzle by my manager at work, and nobody can figure it out yet. It seems to be a hybrid of Greek/egyption/other languages number systems. Basically the object is to put them in the correct order. I can't figure out the order yet, but I think I've found a couple out so far..
The 3rd symbol (Swirly thing) I believe is equal to 100. The X I think is equal to 22, the circled I, I think is 9 and the weird looking 3 I think is equal to 26. All the goal states is "Put these symbols in order" So I'm assuming numerical oder from whatever language. So what do you guys got? |
First of all, do you have the original written out symbols? There may be things that are lost in the Paint versions. A photo or a scan would be nice.
Anyway, the symbols - a lot of them could be anything. Second symbol, top row: it screams DELTA at me, which is a Greek letter. That triangle that way up is the capital variation. Don't know what the line symbolises. Third symbol, top row: could be the Egyptian rope (100), but most images show it spiralling up from the centre, rather than down. Fifth, top row: Aztec? Incan? Mayan? Seventh, top row: Egyptian? The circle with a dot in the middle could be: the merging of male and female forces (female is the circle, and male is the dot - BINDU), the Sun sign (same idea), or the representation of the element Air (which can also be the spirit, the merging of the male and female forces, or a symbol for reproduction, which is loosely similar to the merging of forces), P, bottom row: looks kinda Nordic. Viking? Saxons? X, bottom row: Greek [capital] letter Chi? Fourth, bottom row: Aztec? Incan? Mayan? Fifth character, bottom row: put the I on its side, and you've got yourself the Greek [capital] letter Theta. Sixth character, bottom row: The phonetic letter "Ezh"? Originated in 1847, and is based on medieval cursive forms of the Latin z. Last character, bottom row: the only things that spring to mind are a strange version of the symbol for ohms, which is the Greek [capital] letter Omega, I think. --- Where'd you get the values for X, circled I and stylised 3? |
I'll have to look in my history on my work computer for the sources. If I can, I'll scan the symbols tomorrow and give you an exact picture. It's actually a video game my boss is playing and he can't figure it out.. but yeah. Good findings Lenny!

gee i wonder which language has tear drop as a letter
oh well your boss is probably playing Myst or something stupid like that, and especially if its Myst he should probably kill himself edit: lick my butt ΡΎ |
Myst is the worst game to ever be made.
|
It's not myst, but it's the same genre.
|
Usually in such games there would be contextual clues from the symbols also being elsewhere.

Flip them upside down and switch each one with the one to the left of the first, then place the top town and bottom two inside the middle, and switch top and bottom rows. ;) |

I was thinking the same thing, it's a puzzle where you have no basis of anything to go off of and a bunch of symbols that could potentially mean anything.
|
Did you ever get that scanned? I spent about 3 hours searching all kinds of Alchemy symbols, and found most of them... but some of them elude me. Also, they seem to be from different centuries. Assuming this is Alchemy symbols, of course. I also noticed that there are 16 symbols, yet instead of being 8 on top and 8 on bottom, it's 9 on top and 7 on bottom. It is also interesting that the end of the top line is the symbol for Gold, leading me to believe its a formula... but then that was shot down when I seen he had to put them in a certain order.
So, I am lost as far as this thing goes. Did your friend ever figure it out? If so, can you post the solution? The least it would do is draw in outsiders who might be stuck on the same puzzle in this game. Just a thought. |
Have you ever given someone gullible a 'puzzle' that wasn't actually a puzzle, but rather just a bunch of random crap that you told them was a puzzle?
I have |
My boss figured it out somehow, I just gave up.. too many random symbols.
