Health and Fitness forum?

Yes! A Health and Fitness forum on an internet gaming forum, I know it may sound like an oxy-moron or even a hypothetical disaster, but I don't see why not. There are probably a few on here that do keep up a nice workout regimine, and some that are clueless to health and nutrition and would like to seek advice.

Thoughts/Suggestions?

This could be an easy thing to stir up additional activity, as well as possibly after summer we could attempt another Biggest loser competition; etc, etc. Just pondering.

Hmm...interesting. A health and fitness forum. The problem is, people who honestly try and take care of themselves, probably aren't on the internet as often as a gamer or nerd is. I fit both categories, that's why I can state it.

I'm only on here at work, I occasionally play a bit of games after work, but hardly get on here when I'm not at work.

We have one on PeTA-Sucks, but it doesn't see much use.

I could so contribute to the health and fitness forum. I can answer almost any question that could be asked, and if not I could definitly find answers. I keep a strict workout/running schedule and right now I'm working on a friend who is very out of shape, helping him keep track of what he eats and running with him a couple times a week. I went from the fattest shit alive to where I am now(and very satisfied!) so I've been through a lot of what people are trying to go through.

KagomJack 2008-04-29 01:48 AM

You sorta remind me of a friend I went to high school in that aspect.

Running works wonders. I just walk. :D

slaynish 2008-04-29 08:15 PM

Well i pretty much started highschool with my goal achieved and maintained my problems were in middle school and junior high.

Kaneda 2008-04-29 09:05 PM

Same thing, middle school and junior high.

I'm all for the idea.

Will you be my personal trainer?

D3V 2008-09-12 11:34 PM

I am about to start a new workout regimine and would like to keep progression of it somewhere. I am also doing another "biggest loser/tone up" competition through work, and they go off of everything including inches lost/gained, muscle mass gained, toning, etc etc etc. There's a huge list of things they judge throughout the competition. Although the idea failed on here, I still think it would be good to possibly try and make this place a spewing fountain of Nutritional information as i'm sure all of us could afford to be a little healthier, some more than others. And having a place to sit around and discuss differences in diets, comparisons of what to eat/what not to eat. Etc.

i think its a good idea also. i think it'd bring us more members and maybe a small spike in activity for zelaron too which'd be good too.

Same. I spend a lot of the time on my laptop (school fits part of that category) yet I go to the gym in the mornings to lift every other day and run when I can.

This would be a fairly simple forum to get off the ground, just keeping it active may be a challenge.

It could be narrowed down into a few categories, or atleast stickies in the one sub-forum that would include different areas to Health and Fitness that need to be focused on.

Diet and Weight loss
Basically this would be a huge information area, different diets that people have experimented with whether it's weight loss or bulking up/body building.. such as the Adkins, South beach, low calorie, low carb, weight watchers, etc, etc. It would be pretty easy to get into some great detail and information, as you've got to consider there are many, many, many muscle groups, and serverl workouts per muscle group.

Body Building Questions.
This would be a great form to talk about different workouts for each various muscle group. Now i'm not sure if anyone here is actually qualified as a trainer or anything of that nature, but i'm sure a few of us (including myself) have had tons of experience working out, and would be more than willing to throw some tips into the air on proper techniques, and different workout routines.

Fitness questions
This, in a way, could be tied into the Weight Loss category. This would vary more inluding different forms of aerobics, cardiovascular routines, jogging tips to get your distance and endurance up. Also including different tips to always keep in mind while and before exercising. There are many fun and easy ways to keep your cardio up and i'm sure there are tons of different viewpoints that can be discussed here, it's a cool concept I feel.

If anybody would like to add to this, please feel free. It's just a rough-draft slap together, I'm down for this seriously, but if nobody else really cares I won't try. I just feel everyone always needs a little nudge to get things going, and this could be that help to really help on of our fellow member's health.

PureRebel 2008-11-04 04:38 PM

BUMP.

i wouldnt just limit it to those names, what happens when people want to get feedback on their routines, post journals and pics or try and find info on any suppliments and things like that. i know it might be over thinking it, but i bet we'd be suprised with the amount of activity we'd get on there.

i'm

I'll set it up tomorrow. Feel free to remind me, or I'll probably gawk at the election data instead.

D3V 2008-11-04 04:44 PM

Awesome.

I've actually started a new regimine this monday including a 300mg joust of protein 4 times a week and 215 the alternating days (minimum) I'll be posting about, in a journal-type entry.

PureRebel 2008-11-04 05:04 PM

awesome. i'm thinking myself up a new routine based around powerlifting this time and not just focusing on one muscle group per day. i'll post it up when the new forum is up. thanks a bunch chruser!

By muscle group you mean Abs, chest, back, arms right? I still lift that way, 'cept I work abs each time.

Grav 2008-11-04 07:52 PM

I'm down for this

Kazilla 2008-11-04 09:10 PM

I think the most useful piece of information to be given would be a food regimen(sp). When I joined the gym they told me that 70% of weight-loss is based on what you eat. If you eat healthy + mild excersise pounds will come off. Im excersising but eating like shit. Knowing what to eat will drastically help my situation, im very overweight.
