Members first posts have to be approved. His were not approved because he is a spambot.

Back when we started getting flooded with spambots.

So are those accounts then just deleted too? Or do they just take up such little space without signatures and avatars it doesn't really matter?

I think you have to have a certain number of posts before you can even have an avatar.

Either way, no, they aren't deleted. I think only admins can delete accounts and I don't think that's very common at all.
