NFL: Training Camp

It is a time where teams can evaluate their newly acquired guys, and a time to also test out their older veterans, new play schemes, etc. etc. etc.

Just out of curiosity, how many of you have been to your Local team's Training camp. Does your team charge admission for Parking and viewing the event, etc..

I'm really excited about the Jaguars camp, it's been going on for a week now and one of these damn days I'll be going to one of them, they have an indoor scrimage tonight I believe, and then all next week will be regular camp full of drills etc, and all free of charge, that's the best part about it, hopefully all of this rain we're having won't become a factor. But yeah, how many of you have gone, or would like to go, and does your Team/Facility charge admission?

Well im a Giants fan, and Mike Streehan is probably going to retire. So im pretty sure that the Giants are going to have a tough season, especially with Eli at the helm and no Tiki. But, if we have a bad season then we will get an easier schedule the next season. Their training camp is not around the area i live in so i cant go, even though i want to. Oh well!

Damn that sucks, and you guys got our hardass old-coach Coughlin, I heard he was going to lose his job too, so you guys might be in an entire rebuilding stage here coming up and that always sucks.

Hes a terrible coach, has no control over the team. Cannot wait for him to get the fuck out of here. Looking foward to the future though because we finally get some picks in the draft. We gave most away for Eli and now are fi nally starting to get them again.

I would like to go but the training camp is probably 2 hours south of me. I was watching NFL Network the other day and they were doing a special of the Colt's training camp and apparently 7,000 people showed up. That's a pretty good turnout for training camp.

They were showing some highlights and Reggie Wayne was owning everyone that came up against him. Also, Anthony Gonzalez (our new slot receiver), got the most passes out of everybody. Peyton said he and Gonzalez were clicking really fast. Makes me anxious for the season to start.

Yeah I love Training camp, the Jags had appx: 6,000 from what the news stations around here said for the 'Oklahoma' drills we run, which are great to watch. I still haven't gone yet, i'm so anxious to go but work's been holding me back all week, i'll probably go tomorrow for the majority of the day if I can get some damn free time

I love how you guys use "us" or "we." You are not owners. You are not players. You have no stake in it.

Thanatos 2007-08-03 06:46 PM

Oh, good one genius. It makes it easier to say and we're representing our team.

It's a sport thing, you wouldn't understand.

Grav 2007-08-04 05:45 AM

I used to watch baseball quite a bit. I never referred to any teams in the first person. It's just more of that underlying pervasive need ignorant assholes have to invest foolish pride in something they are not even involved in. Those players really couldn't care less if you did something else with your fanatacism (like watch ADHD early-20s stoner programming.)

Thanatos 2007-08-04 08:10 AM

I'm an ignorant asshole because I type out "we" instead of "The Colts"? Wow, I didn't know that. Thank you for bringing it to my attention.

And, actually, yes the players do care about our fanatacism. I waited 2 hours in 10 degree weather to watch the Colts have their parade downtown after the Superbowl. There had been rumors that they would be in buses because of the weather, making it difficult for us to see them. But they said, nuh uh. If the fans have to tough it out in the cold, so are we. They came through on the backs up pick-up trucks, and other various vehicles where they were completely outside. They appreciated our dedication.

Guess our team cares about the fans.

Some of them do care probably but some do it because they realize the fans pay their checks.

I didn't read that middle paragraph, but yes, we felt you needed to know.

You could say the same thing about yourself and Dunkin Donuts, or McDonalds.

Like Thanatos said, it's just easier to rep the team that way.... Try to stay on topic.

IN other news, the Jaguars hosted a scrimmage last weekend, last friday actually, and there was 11,679 people there, pretty amazing for us being a smaller franchise. The season is SOO close now.

Thanatos 2007-08-09 09:56 AM

First Colt's pre-season game is on tonight. Hellz yeah.

D3V 2007-08-09 10:59 AM

Lucky you..

I watched some scrimmages last night on NFL network at like 1:30 in the morning, it was definately pretty sweet...

We're having our "LIVE" draft this weekend at my house with my dad and a few of his friends and some family, 12 total. And right afterwards we're going to watch the Jags play the fins .. should be a blast.

Caught half of the Steelers playing Green Bay the other night. The crappy half when St. Pierre threw it down the shitter.
