Please sum1 help! im havin trouble on rpg maker xp. okay here i go:

1). after i put a chest on a layer and assign a item to it, i try testing the game and when i open the chest animation does not work plus also i gain the item, the gaining of the item is not a problem, it's just that if i open the chest again i get the same item... i can repeat this over and over again.... how can i stop this?

2). ok.. how the hell do i attatch my own title screen? it does not want to do it.

3) ive created a short film about my rpg im making using windows movie maker. the question is... can i actually use some of it for a begining sequence? will i have to change the file type? if so what programme do i use?

4). how do i go about attatching video files? (sorry for all the questions)

LASTLY....

5) how do i get rid of that annoying tree backdrop and change it when you test the game your making??

Well, I don't know a whole lot about the XP, I have 2k and 2k3,but if they are somewhat the same, with your treasure chest:Before you add your item, make it to when your character presses it,it moves in rotation sequence like this.
<>Move Event:This Event:Turn 90*Left,Wait,Face Up,Wait,Face Left,Wait
thus giving it the opening look.then you add your item and whatever else you whant.
After this, add a switch turn on and make a page two of the treasure chest. On page 2
under event conditions, check the box and choose the event turn on switch from the previous page. Then select the sprite to the open looking chest. Then vualla,an open chest that you can only get the chest open once and only the items once!If this does not work then ask Blue Cube or Lenny.(remember this is just the rpgm2k3 way so I do not know how it will work with XP)

Of course, I would just skip the whole animation part entirely, as things like treasure chests are sort of "background" items for the most part.

1) Anyway, as frosted_snow said, make an event with 2 pages with a switch activating the second page. Nothing TOO difficult, but if you need screenshots or something, ask away.

2) Tools -> Resource Manager, and click on "Graphics/Titles" on the left side. Then, choose Import on the right side. Titlescreens must be 640x480 pixels.

3) "Play Movie" was removed from RMXP, so it's RM2k3 only.

4) You don't, in RMXP.

5) Tree backdrop? If you mean the test battle background, just click on "Change Battle BG" in the Database/Monster Group tab when you're testing the battles. If you're talking about the battle background within the actual game, you can either set the battle background in the map properties or by setting up the terrain in the tileset (which isn't of much use unless it's a world map or something with multiple terrain types, so I won't go into it here unless you need help with it)

thanx for the reply...

hi, thanx for the reply, it was quick and pretty much understandable. Mind you i cant understand why they removed video option from rmxp? my video is cool and my game would have been even better with it as a begining sequence... oh well! a waste of a few hours! i suppose i could use it as a kind of viewing video, just slightly alter it to show some screen shots throughout my game. so people can see what its like before they download it. Anyways! thanxs again!

I guess very few people used it, or something. Remember that they also took out the side-view battles that everyone loved in RM2k3, so who knows what Enterbrain was thinking.

They weren't thinking!

Nah, I consider it less of an oversight and more of a complete failure

Well.. Even if you can't make intro videos you still can make intros using "Autorun" on an event where you have sett all movement and such already. It's not as good, but sometimes it can be helpful.. Though I usualy introduce my games with people talking. Kinda like final fantasy. Then you don't need long intros having to give you a whole background story. Instead you get the story while playing. Much more flexing to mee..
